  2. Hey guys, do you have any suggestions on improving the handling of a city vtec 2007? am looking at the cheapest and most effective way to improve the handling of the car. find it a little too wobbly at times. it would be great if you could give your suggestions and estimated costs of implementing it. thanks!
  3. Hi guys My current ride is an 09 altis. I am currently finding it underpowered. For the first 3 gears are ok as they are rather responsive but it is the 4th it is sluggish unless i turn off the a/c. What are the improvements that i can do to improve the performance of my altis? thanks in advance!
  4. Saw from SGCARMARTS that the new Hyundai Tuscon 2.0cc produce 166hp and 180+nm it quite impressive and Hyundai now are quite good when it come to BHP/Liters and the new Sonata my first impress was WOW ! as for the Genesis it is awesome too but Singapore doesn't have it so sad
  5. Brazen car thieves make away with rear tyres of car in HDB multi-storey carpark 22 Jan 2010 Beware car owners: your car may be targeted by thieves even if you're parked in an HDB carpark. Using a small jack and brick, thieves had stripped this car of its rear wheels. STOMPer Mexx was shocked when he saw the state of his Lancer EX 2.0 in the morning on Jan 19. The car was parked near Block 299, Compassvale Street. He thinks that the thieves struck in the early hours of Jan 19, and he is appealing for witnesses. In an email to us on 21 Jan, he recounted the story to us: "On 19 Jan 2010 7am, when I went to my car in the HDB MSCP, I was shocked to see that both of my rear 17" sport rims and tyres were missing!!! "The rear of the car was supported by a very small jack and a brick. "I called the police immediately. "The CSI have already dusted my car for finger prints. "I have lost my rear two wheels and both my side skirtings were damaged by the jack and the brick while the car was supported by them. "In fact, while waiting for the tow truck to come, the jack was bent and the brick was cracking under the weight of the car. "I can see that the exhaust was already depressed on the kerb. It was really frustrating to see the car in such a state!! "I am staying in Blk 299 Compassvale Street. Does anyone have similar experiences? "Or did anyone witness anything on 19 Jan 2010 between 0000 - 0700hrs?"
  6. Hi bros. Just wondering if any of you bros here have any tips on how we can extend the 'range' of our car alarm? Say for example, stock allows us to be able to activate our alarm system when we are 10m away ... Let's say if we do some mod to the system, we're able to activate our alarm when we are 20m away ... Any one got any tips?
  7. in cup size that is. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,25290859-36398,00.html
  8. Hello all, any tips to improve my driving skills? I have a few weaknesses i have identified myself.. For example, narrow roads, I sometimes afraid that my side will hit the other car so i will move slowly to go in but actually, i can go in at quite a decent speed without slowing down. I see other cars navigate through the hole like nothing. My vertical parking, most of the time cannot get straight.. Must move forward and adjust to get it straight.. But i have tried parking at those shopping centre car park, max time i take is 30s maybe because of the stress from the cars waiting?Another mistake is that i keep stepping on the lane markings now and then.. maybe cause wait the side of the car hit the barriers lol. And are there any big open areas where i can try emergency moves like e braking, handbrake turning without breaking the law?
  9. Check this out. Diagrams and details are in the webpage through the link below. http://www.recumbents.com/car_aerodynamics/ Here are things that can be done to improve your vehicle's aerodynamics: Lower the car - Lowering the car reduces the effective frontal area, increasing efficiency. Note that this only works up to a certain point. There will be an ideal ride height for each car. According to this article, 2.7" ground clearance is a good minimum hieight to shoot for. According to Mercedes, "Lowering the ride height at speed results in a 3-percent improvement in drag." Remove that wing - Many "sports" cars have a non-functional wing on the back. Removing it will improve the fuel economy. The exceptions are the small rear fairings that are designed to detach the airflow from a rounded trunk. Clean up the underside of the car. - Installation of a "body pan", while a labor intensive operation, will provide a significant improvement in mileage. More... If a body pan is not practical, an air dam will redirect air that would normally pile up under the car causing drag. Not as good as a body pan, but better than nothing. Should be combined with side fairings. Fair the wheel wells. - Yeah, this looks funny, but completely covering the rear wheel well will help improve efficiency. While the front wheel can not easily be completely faired due to clearances needed for turning, a partial fairing can be made. In addition, fairings can be added in front and behind the tires to help transition the air around these large appendages. Clean up the front of the car. Basically the smoother the better. If the car has a large air intake under the bumper, it may not need that opening above the bumper (they are often just styling cues). An aerodynamic plastic or composite panel can be built to cover the opening. Remove the side view mirrors and instead use a remote camera system. Replace large whip antennas with smaller powered antennas. Vehicles with steep windshields can benefit from a hood fairing to help smooth the transition of air between the hood and windshield. A small "tail cone" can be affixed the the rear bumper to help transition the air from under the car. Side fairings can be used to clean up the lower half of the body between the tires. Additional mods for SUVs: Ha ha ha ha.
  10. Read this very informative article in the Technical Folder, can anyone advise which workshop here in S'pore is the best in providing this improvement? Thanks in advance!
  11. arghh.... just fill up my tank last night and realise that my FC drops from 10km/l to 9.2km/l.... :( have tried light on foot and not turning air-con but still doesnt see improvement... sigh so bros any modification that's good for improving FC? can tell me how much? thinking of getting volt stab and even magnetise the fuel pipe, do they help?
  12. juz got new rims, 16' superturismos, and my pickup slowed down by quite abit.. help?
  13. Hi bros, Newly joined...wonderful site with fun-talking souls and techical gurus.. I am interested in improving some pickup speed for my ride..wonder what's the best method to do it. Does installing CAI help or is there other solutions?
  14. Readers of enthusiast performance magazines will probably recall seeing advertisements for "oversized throttle bodies". The claims expound on improvements in engine breathing that follow from fitting a larger-than-stock throttle body to an automobile engine. What the sales pitches do not explain, however, is that the effective diameter of the intake system is only as large as its smallest opening -- generally the inlet of the intake manifold! IMPROVING WHAT YOU'VE GOT Although the size of the intake manifold inlet will eventually limit airflow, there are a number of simple throttle body modifications that will improve engine breathing at marginal cost. Two such methods are "knife edging the throttle plate" and "flush-fitting throttle plate screws". KNIFE EDGING The volume and velocity of air passing through the throttle body will be determined by the aerodynamic properties of the throttle plate. Performance engine builders know this all too well and often fit complicated sliding throttle mechanisms to regulate airflow into their competition motors. Mainstream automobile manufacturers, however, often overlook the humble throttle plate when tuning an engine for optimum power. Such is the case with Volvos where throttle plates are simply "punched" from thick brass sheet. Punched throttle plates are characterized by their blunt leading edges that promote airflow separation at high velocities. The result is a throttle plate that will effectively regulate airflow, but fails to promote maximum breathing as engine speed rises. By carefully removing the throttle plate and beveling its leading edge, airflow through the throttle body will more closely resemble the theoretical limit afforded by the bore. Note that a trailing edge bevel is not required as the throttle shaft introduces virtually unavoidable turbulence at the throttle plate's mid-point. Readers will note that the edge of the leading edge of the "after" picture is reduced, but not entirely eliminated as sufficient material will be required to effectively seal the throttle body at idle! Flow across the throttle plate will be improved after careful modification. The result is greater power -- particularly at high rpm when airflow is at its greatest! FLUSH FITTING SCREWS The next "quick and dirty" little trick to improving throttle body performance is to flush fit the screws that retain the throttle plate to the shaft. In most cases, this is very straight-forward with the elimination of the thread locking tabs that prevent the screws from backing out. In situations where button-head screws protrude above the throttle shaft, however, an appropriate flat-head screw in carefully beveled seat will be required. With the locking tabs removed, however, an appropriate thread sealer will be required to prevent the screws from vibrating free. One of the better products for this task is Loctite
  15. Read this in another forum, what's your views on this??, many thanks :- "......... Different websites have different view. Quotes from some US websites basic mod starts with air-intake, inter bigger inter aircooler reasons more air plus cooler air means better combustion gives better power. What's come in fast must also goes out fast so they recommend exhaust as the second alternative but not legally approved by LTA "???". ECU is always the last part. Follow by this intake manifold & extractor, fuel rail, fuel pump, boost controller, suspension, all this involes a lot of dollars & cents. etc... Humble Japanese & British racer have different views. Lower the weight & improves the handling. This is the simplest and cheapest method for mod that won't burn a hole in your pocket. Cheers ............. "
  16. Find my car braking to be rather "bei chiak" at times. This is especially so when braking from moderate/high speed. Feeling rather uncomfortable with it. Any suggestion to improve my car's braking prowess? Thank you Keat..
