Wow a lot of siaolangs nowadays SINGAPORE – A 20-year-old man was arrested in Commonwealth Avenue on the evening of Feb 3, after the police were alerted to a man holding a chopper there. Seven people, including a six-year-old girl, were injured, with a knife and chopper seized by the police. The police said they received a call about a man holding a chopper at 301 Commonwealth Avenue at about 7.05pm. Police officers found the man detained by members of the public when they arrived at the scene. Two men, aged 76 and 40, and a six-year-old girl sustained minor injuries. They were conscious when taken to the National University Hospital. Another three men, aged 54, 21 and 20, and a 45-year-old woman sustained minor injuries, but declined further medical assistance. Chinese-language news outlet Lianhe Zaobao reported that there were police officers at the Queens Peak condominium near Queenstown MRT station. Zaobao also reported that a group of eight people were seen, in visuals provided by a reader, on the ground floor of the condominium, throwing things in a particular direction. According to the condo’s residents, there was a pursuit along Margaret Drive, with Zaobao’s reporter finding blood stains and police officers at a block there, which is about 1km from the condo. SINGAPORE – A 42-year-old man was arrested on Monday morning after taking a 60-year-old woman hostage in Yishun. The police said they responded to a call for assistance at 7:35am along Yishun Ring Road. A man had allegedly held a woman at knifepoint, and a knife was seized as a case exhibit. In a video shared on Facebook, the man can be seen at the void deck of Block 108 Yishun Ring Road holding a knife to the woman’s neck as police officers tried to calm him down. Officers continued negotiating with the man, who then took the woman to the nearby hawker centre at Block 110. Officers believed to be from the Singapore Police Force’s Emergency Response Team then arrived at the scene, armed with bulletproof vests and submachine guns. The officers rushed towards the man, pinning him to the ground. A bystander can be seen helping out. The woman sustained minor injuries, but refused to be taken to the hospital, said the police. Based on preliminary investigations, the man and woman do not know each other. Police investigations are ongoing.

SINGAPORE - A man wielding a knife was shot dead during a confrontation with police officers at Block 33 Bendemeer Road, near Boon Keng, on Wednesday (March 23). The police said during a press conference on Wednesday night that the 64-year-old man was walking around the foot of the HDB block shouting and brandishing a knife at around 4pm. When officers arrived at the scene, the man came out of a unit and officers told him to drop the weapon but he refused, and walked towards them. The police officers fired three taser shots at the man and retreated but he continued to walk towards them. "As there was imminent threat to the safety of the officers, one of the officers fired a shot from his pistol at the man, and the man fell to the ground," said the police. The officer performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the man, who had a gunshot wound in his chest. He was unconscious when taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5.13pm. The man was wanted by the Central Narcotics Bureau, and drug apparatus was found in his flat. The man was also being investigated for offences of rash act and voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty. He is said to have then thrown items out of his window and when officers engaged him, he used a chair to injure an officer, added the police. A man has been video-ed down by a passerby around Block 409 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3 on the 29th of Sept 2020 brandishing a knife in a carpark. Someway into the video posted by ROADS.sg, we can see that the guy with knife, suddenly slashing himself on his own forearm after shouting at the other guy who was holding a pipe or something similar. Upon seeing the man with the knife slashing himself, the other man dropped his weapon and tried to stop him from causing more hurt. Based on what netizens from various sources wrote, the man who tried to stop the guy with the knife happened to be just a brave passerby. Police are aware of this case and investigations are ongoing. It is unknown how the lady who had blood on her face is related to the case.

wah !! now boon lay happening man !! Four men suspected to be involved in a fight at Boon Lay Drive have been arrested, police said on Friday (March 18). The four men, aged 17 to 21, are believed to be have used weapons to hurt two others. Police received a report about the fight at Block 191 Booon Lay Drive on Wednesday (March 16) night at 12.24am. Police officers found two men, aged 23 and 34, injured at the scene. They had been involved in a fight with four men whom they did not know, police said. Following investigations, the four suspects were arrested on the same day along Boon Lay Drive. Two knives believed to have been used in the incident were seized by the police. If found guilty of the charge of voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapon, the suspects can be jailed up to seven years. They may also be fined and/or caned.

It all started when she knocked incessantly on the door of the guest room of their Jurong West flat at 7am on Feb 4, 2011. When he opened the door, she attempted to talk to him about their marriage, finances and his extra marital affair. Tan was still sleepy and told her not to disturb him but she persisted. That is when he assaulted her. She went to the police at 7pm that day and sought treatment at the Singapore General Hospital some two hours later. The medical report listed multiple caning marks on her, the scratch on the thigh and a bruise on her scalp.

Wong Phee Hon, 58, stabbed Mr Vong Wah Lee, 27, in the stomach in the kitchen of Ho Yeh Cafe after the younger man had accused him of being "stupid". Wong was opening a tin of kaya when Mr Vong, a cook, shouted at him, telling him that he should use another type of can opener instead. Insulted by this sudden provocation, a furious Wong picked up a knife, walked over to Mr Vong and stabbed him. Wong was detained by a security officer while Mr Vong was sent to the Singapore General Hospital for treatment. Mr Vong had to undergo surgery with injuries to his intestines and was discharged five days later. Wong has to complete performing all 200 hours of community service within a year. He could have been jailed up to three months, fined a maximum of S$2,500 or both ============================================================ Seems like a light punishment....just community service?....no mention of special factors (medical, psychiatric, age, financial, etc).... taking a knife to stab someone over a derogatory remark is a serious action....can u imagine if everyone does tat? Readers of enthusiast performance magazines will probably recall seeing advertisements for "oversized throttle bodies". The claims expound on improvements in engine breathing that follow from fitting a larger-than-stock throttle body to an automobile engine. What the sales pitches do not explain, however, is that the effective diameter of the intake system is only as large as its smallest opening -- generally the inlet of the intake manifold! IMPROVING WHAT YOU'VE GOT Although the size of the intake manifold inlet will eventually limit airflow, there are a number of simple throttle body modifications that will improve engine breathing at marginal cost. Two such methods are "knife edging the throttle plate" and "flush-fitting throttle plate screws". KNIFE EDGING The volume and velocity of air passing through the throttle body will be determined by the aerodynamic properties of the throttle plate. Performance engine builders know this all too well and often fit complicated sliding throttle mechanisms to regulate airflow into their competition motors. Mainstream automobile manufacturers, however, often overlook the humble throttle plate when tuning an engine for optimum power. Such is the case with Volvos where throttle plates are simply "punched" from thick brass sheet. Punched throttle plates are characterized by their blunt leading edges that promote airflow separation at high velocities. The result is a throttle plate that will effectively regulate airflow, but fails to promote maximum breathing as engine speed rises. By carefully removing the throttle plate and beveling its leading edge, airflow through the throttle body will more closely resemble the theoretical limit afforded by the bore. Note that a trailing edge bevel is not required as the throttle shaft introduces virtually unavoidable turbulence at the throttle plate's mid-point. Readers will note that the edge of the leading edge of the "after" picture is reduced, but not entirely eliminated as sufficient material will be required to effectively seal the throttle body at idle! Flow across the throttle plate will be improved after careful modification. The result is greater power -- particularly at high rpm when airflow is at its greatest! FLUSH FITTING SCREWS The next "quick and dirty" little trick to improving throttle body performance is to flush fit the screws that retain the throttle plate to the shaft. In most cases, this is very straight-forward with the elimination of the thread locking tabs that prevent the screws from backing out. In situations where button-head screws protrude above the throttle shaft, however, an appropriate flat-head screw in carefully beveled seat will be required. With the locking tabs removed, however, an appropriate thread sealer will be required to prevent the screws from vibrating free. One of the better products for this task is Loctite
