  2. Raining very heavily this afternoon and any bros here going to Ubi Autobacs on rainy days please please be extra careful when manoeuvring in Autobacs Ubi carpark. The flooring has almost no friction when the floor is wet. Was there this afternoon, while doing and right turn trying to exit the carpark, very gently tapped on the brakes and whole car skidded and buang onto the auto barrier. Wasnt even speeding at all. If you all notice, it is also very slippery even when you are walking. Barrier box a bit slanted and barrier cannot work anymore. Awaiting quote for the damage. $$$$ fly. This is just a warning to all bros, unnecessary comments is not welcomed. Would be good if anyone in this line knows the rough $$ damage of the repair of the barrier.... [shakehead]

  5. I was at a service outlet ( not to be mentioned ) and while leisurely sipping my coffee, the mechanic walks to a man beside me and told him he should perform engine flush because his mileage is time for him to do engine flushing. So the man asked for the price of engine flushing and then verbally agree to let the mechanic proceed with the additional work done. Before I can finish my coffee, the mechanic walks back to the man again. He then mentioned that the spark plug not so good. He suggest change all since doing engine flushing. The man ask for the price again. The man realise it is a bit expensive so he is a little rejecting the offer. The mechanic immediately assure the man not to worry as he will ask the shop boss for discount. Came back shortly and say the management agree to give discount on the spark plugs for $xx amount. Hearing that there is discounted price, the man agrees again. OK I don't wish to stereotype people out here, but the car is just beside you, you should stand up, demand to see the condition of the spark plug, judge for yourself if it is rightful to change. However all this while, that man's butt was stuck to the seat. He never took a blink of an eye to look at his car, nor ask for more detail opinion. He readily accepts. Engine flushing, whether it is legit or snake oil, you should also judge. But looking at the man's reaction from the proposal, he seems to be nullified of his knowledge of cars, even basic servicing. He would listen to what the mechanics says. His only concern is price. That is no way you should even offer your car to a service outlet or workshop to take your hard earned money. Sometimes ignorant is bliss. But when comes to ignorance of basic car care, it is blitz.

  11. Looking for one that sells all sorts of accessories to shop.
  12. Am thinking to do servicing at Autobacs JB. Anyone done it with them before? How was your encounter?
  13. I made use of autobacs free battery test and obtained the detailed print out reports. Over time, you can see the CCA of my battery dropping. With bro KB's advice, I have determined that my alternator charging is ok, but CCA is on the low side after 2 years. but it is still rated as "good battery". Battery details: 55B24R Brand: Trane Silver Battery. Cost: $102+ Rated: 520CCA (but initial battery test shows 570 CCA - quite POWER imho) You can see the 3 battery test reports below. Read from left to right, 1st report July 2010, then Dec 2011, then July 2012. Most recent test on the right. Will wait for bro KB and other battery experts to comment on the reports. For sharing purposes and to learn how to read the reports! And Finally, Thanks Autobacs!!!
  14. Haiz...always visit autobacs and always see this nice salesgirl very helpful and cheerful. When she catch me 'bioing' her my eyes always dart to the celing looking at some imaginary car wash shampoo.. Always wanted to talk to her but in Singapore this kind of standard girl almost always 100% already attached, chop stamp guaranteed. I imagine her bf is one of those handsome suave mechanics in the adjacent work area and who is driving those hiong hiong cars like say a WRX or Type R. Haiz..really my type but too bad me not hansome or richmanson, just a peasant. When I am reborn next time, may god bless me with the fortune of meeting and befriending my dream girl pls... Sorry for the ranting..I am always 'too late' in my life...
  15. Autobacs is probably one of the most successful one-stop automotive centre where you can get various parts and accessories or give your car a servicing or a tyre change. The one in Singapore is of course of similar concept but there's just something different about coming to the one in Japan. I was in Yokohama last week and I had to stop by Super Autobacs! This is where your car gets its dosage of cleaning and checking. The lobby of Super Autobacs is full of tyres. Customers waiting as they watch their cars being serviced. Want an ice cream during the winter? There was a Mitsubishi i MieV being charged! Electric vehicles the next trend? 'Park' your kids here while you go up and shop for your car! This is the second level where you can find ALL the parts and accessories you need for your car - from a sticker on the windscreen to a blow-off valve. Here's the aftermarket section - think it used to be a lot bigger than before:( Popularity of tuning cars has seen a dip in Japan apparently! It was interesting to see how Autobacs is done up in Japan. As usual I bought a whole load of stickers - I love stickers!
  16. Anyone tried the treatment before? Can remove juddering problem? It's now only $30 at the new autobacs shop in Ubi. Thought of trying that.

  22. Hi all, I'm planning a driving road trip up to Genting this friday. Just wondering if there's any big autobacs-like shops or like the JB franchise "Brothers" equivalent in KL I can visit? I'm planning to go search for a door visor for my Toyota Fielder. If I'm not wrong, KL has this new Toyota Fielder model so I can try my luck there. If lucky, RM40 should get me the door visors. In Singapore, got money also cannot buy. Worse case is next time I go Japan and buy (they only got transparent version). Appreciate any advise.
