  2. Hi all, Last year 2 days before chinese new year, i was rear end by a fit/jazz. Damage was really bad and i, therefore decided to claim against the driver that rear end me. Today, i received a call that the other party insurance propose to pay only 90% of the damage and injury. I ask my lawyer and they advise me to accept the offer. if i decide not to take the offer, i will ask to go to trial and if my luck is not that good, the judge will reduce it to 80% or less. and if that happened. i will have to pay both parties legal fees. after hearing the fees amount, i told the lawyer that i accept it. Now, my question is, if the workshop have decided to accept the 90% damage, will he go after me for the 10%?
  3. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is now estimating that 89 deaths may be attributable to unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles here in the United States between the year 2000 and May of 2009. Previously, it was reported that 52 deaths were possibly related to the throttle defect. This figure has been extrapolated from NHTSA's database of the roughly 6,200 complaints it has received over that same time period. In addition to the 89 deaths, 57 injuries have also been tallied. Toyota reminds us that these figures are estimates, saying in a statement: Many complaints in the NHTSA database, for any manufacturer, lack sufficient detail that could help identify the cause of an accident. We will continue to work in close partnership with law enforcement agencies and federal regulators with jurisdiction over accident scenes whenever requested. According to Toyota, some 1.67 million sticky accelerator pedals and 1.62 million floor mats have so far been fixed under recall, with roughly 120,000 being performed per week on average. 4. http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/news/story/0,...,150906,00.html? SHE flashed a finger, he claimed, and then gave him a ride on her car bonnet. Her alleged rude gesture after a near accident, and what followed, has now become a police case. Businessman Guo Tian Fu, 36, claimed that he was driving along Cluny Road opposite the Botanic Gardens at 1.40pm last Wednesday. Behind his vehicle was a blue BMW 3-series. According to him, as both cars were driving past Lermit Lodge, off Cluny Road, the BMW stopped suddenly at the T-junction to turn right into Lermit Road. Mr Guo said he was about one-and-a-half car lengths behind the BMW driver when she made the abrupt turn. 'It was so sudden for me, I sounded my horn at her,' he recalled. RUDE GESTURE 'She showed me her middle finger on her left hand when she held it up at her rear-view mirror.' Furious, he followed her car into Lermit Road and overtook her on the two-way single-lane road. He wanted to get her particulars, he claimed, because of the near-miss. Click to see larger image He stopped his year-old Mercedes Benz in front of her car. He added that he overtook her only when there was no oncoming traffic. Mr Guo, who is married with a 6-year-old son, said: 'I wanted to make a report because it's so dangerous to stop your car suddenly. 'What if she had caused an accident?' He was also angry because of the rude gesture. 'You don't expect that from a woman,' he said, adding that he had intended to go to the police station after taking down her particulars. He said the woman was in her late 30s and was alone in her vehicle when he approached her. He claimed he asked her to exchange particulars and asked why she had shown him her middle finger. But, he said, she raised her right hand and showed him her middle finger again. She allegedly told him: 'Prove it then.' Mr Guo then returned to his car to take his handphone, which is equipped with a camera, to take a photo of the woman and her car. She could not be traced to give her side of the encounter. Mr Guo claimed that as he was getting his phone, the woman reversed her car and tried to get back on the road. He said he was standing in front of her car and tried taking pictures of her licence plate, but she kept inching forward so he had to take a few steps back several times. Then, he claimed, things took a turn for the worse. He said he felt her licence plate touching his leg. 'Everything happened very quickly, in less than a minute,' he said. 'When I tried to take a photo of her, she accelerated towards me. 'I had no choice but to jump onto her car and I ended up sitting on it.' He said he used his hands to support himself as the car moved with his back facing the driver. He reckoned she was driving between 10kmh and 20kmh. Mr Guo said: 'She was speeding off and I panicked. It was quite scary.' He said she drove for about 5m to 10m before he jumped off, hurting his right ankle in the process. CALLED POLICE He said he did not see a doctor as it was 'not serious'. But Mr Guo did call the police, who arrived in a patrol car. A witness, who was at a nearby private apartment, also gave his statement to the two police officers. The painter, who wanted to be identified only as Desmond, 25, said he was on the third storey of the scaffolding at the private apartment when he heard the sound of a car horn. He turned to look and was surprised to see a man on the bonnet of a BMW. He said: 'I was not sure what was happening. The car was moving quite slowly. He just jumped off and the driver drove off. 'I did not see the driver of the car.' A police spokesman confirmed a report had been lodged by Mr Guo. They are looking into the matter. Mr Guo's account is similar to a fatal confrontation near Wheelock Place in April when financial adviser Alex Lim, 30, tried to block a taxi driver from driving off after an accident. Mr Guo said he did think about that incident after his brush with the woman, but felt he had to do what he did. He said: 'I don't regret what I did. 'But I feel if drivers have a dispute they cannot resolve, they should call the police.'
  5. Well, I have calculated and i should have amper space for me to filter right out, who knows this idiot jammed brake. Note: i have my signal light on. I told him, you jammed brake without looking who is behind, and cause me to kiss the butt, and his replies is , don't u see there is a big truck ahead of him. I was wha lan, 1/3 car length, he scared what? It shows that nowadays, most of the drivers damn kia si, jam brake without concerning people behind. Why i filter out? This road has 4 lanes, 4th lane is for turning left, but at the turning point, it divided into 2 lanes for turning left. I was behind him at 3rd lane, so i followed him, seeing him filtering to 4th lane, knowing that the turning left got 2 turning lanes, so i filter right out. Bang. he jammed brake, because ahead of him got a big truck. His reasoning is because a big truck is ahead of him, tiu, 1/3 car length, what he afraid off? If he gradually move on, i would have filter right without banging him. I gave him my namecard, contact, IC and Insurance company, I don't even bother ask him a single question, just snap shot the scratches. The worst part is, he really damn sucks, still want to see my IC to verify. I thought of paying him $50 to clear off, because my car also got scratches, but i see his pattern, most likely will respray the entire bumper. I am waiting for him to call me, and will bring him down to my patronize workshop to gauge how much should i compensate.
