  1. Foul stench from Bayshore apartment leads to grisly find - the bodies of a father and son http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/courts-crime/story/foul-stench-bayshore-apartment-leads-grisly-find-the-bodies-father SINGAPORE - The decomposed bodies of two men were found in a unit at The Bayshore condominium Wednesday morning, after neighbours complained of a foul smell. The bodies of a 61-year-old man and a 40-year old man, believed to be father and son, were found on a sofa in the living room. A maid living in the condominium near East Coast Park told Chinese evening daily Shin Min Daily News that there had been a stench for the past week . "Even though the windows were closed, the smell remained in the air," she said. Unable to tolerate the smell any more, neighbours complained to the condominium management, who called the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). The SCDF confirmed that they sent a Red Rhino vehicle and an ambulance after receiving a call for help at a building along Bayshore Road. A police spokesman said: "On arrival, two men were found motionless. They were pronounced dead by paramedics on scene." The police have classified the deaths as unnatural and are investigating. -

  3. Just when you thought there was only the dramatic Jaguar uncle case, we have now another apparently happening at a HDB corridor. Even though the video was almost 6min, you have watched it all because the "best part" took part near to the end when the dramatic uncle gave it all Regardless of who is right or wrong, it might have been a tense place to live there, machiam the DMZ between North & South Koreas... Serioulsy they need to go to the mediation centre or to their MP to sort things out. If not it will be another Joo Chiat case like what the uncle said. From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._resident.html# Foul-mouthed 'bully' rants and rants at resident STOMPer Rebecca shot this video of her neighbour yelling vulgarities and threatening her. She says he does this frequently to his neighbours living in units adjacent to his. She commented: "Our neighbour has been bullying people living above, below and opposite his unit with vulgarities, threatening to report us to the police and take us to court. "He does this whenever he feels that we make noises above his limit or for whatever reasons he can find, like suspecting the neighbours dirty his laundry, have children who jump above his unit or even play the piano too loud. "He is well known for complaining to the HDB and Town Council about this. "This happens quite frequently. The video is one example of his behaviour. It was shot on Tuesday, July 12, at around 6:30pm." STOMP has bleeped out the obscenities uttered by the man in the video.
  4. SINGAPORE: The Workers' Party (WP) is crying foul over a leaflet sent by the People's Action Party's (PAP) Nee Soon Group Representation Constituency (GRC) team to the residents on Thursday. With minutes to go before midnight - just in time before Cooling Off Day kicked in - the WP posted a statement to rebut the allegations in the leaflet that the party was against home upgrading. The WP statement added: "This is misleading and mischievous. It was distributed just before the close of the campaign period, leaving little time for WP to respond and set the record straight." The newsletter, which was seen by Today, cited a blog post - dated Oct 20, 2009 - by WP East Coast GRC candidate Gerald Giam under a headline "WP's Housing Policy - it will reduce the value of your homes!" Mr Giam had said in his post: "HDB flats should remain no-frills public housing. There is no need to provide posh condo look-alikes." The leaflet also cited a media report last month, which quoted Mr Giam saying that the high prices of Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats were due to the past PAP's assets enhancement policy in the past 20 years. It said: "Their solution will crash housing prices - it will reduce the prices of your flats." It also described the WP's position as "simple". "It has a negative policy: Throw criticisms but it has no solutions!" The leaflet was signed off by PAP Nee Soon GRC candidates K Shanmugam, Lee Bee Wah, Lim Wee Kiak, Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim and Patrick Tay. When contacted late Thursday night, Dr Lim said the leaflet was only printed on Wednesday, after hearing the Opposition's take on issues. Hence, copies of it were distributed on Thursday, he added. He said that the team had planned to send out materials consistently over the nine-day campaigning period. When asked if it was a deliberate attempt to leave little time for WP to respond, Dr Lim said no. He added that his team had to "wait for the other party to rebut" what the PAP had raised earlier against its housing policies. In its statement, the WP provided a point-by-point rebuttal. Citing the example of upgrading in Hougang, the WP also explained that it was never against upgrading plans. Urging voters to read its manifesto, the WP explained that its stand was that public housing cannot be expected to have condo-like facilities or it will make home prices unaffordable. - TODAY --- http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1127104/1/.html
  5. http://www.straitstimes.com/Singapore/Stor...ory_265627.html They should have known that academics are an argumentative bunch First, they make the teaching profession a sweatshop, with teachers doubling up for admin jobs, and long vacations largely a memory. Next, they'll start tackling the polys. And next?? You got to love this guy they interviewed: Cutting leave is supposed to... "the aim of the review was to come up with a 'compelling career pathway' and 'attractive pay package' and that annual leave was just one aspect of the package. " And this is "competitiveness", Singapore-style: "The review, he said, 'is necessary to ensure that our compensation and career development framework remains competitive'. " ... basically, well, nobody else is offering 42-day leave nowadays, so we can safely cut it down and still compete

Recently, the smell comes back and now it happens occasionally. Anyone got any solution and I heard by hanging the dehumidifier like thirsty hippo type will help to reduce the moisture in the air-con system so that the mould and fungi will not grow in the air-con, is that true? Anyone care to advise?
