Lmws214 Turbocharged December 18, 2017 Share December 18, 2017 where to Remap the stock map of ECU.... ? So far, tried almost all the fuel saving mods and hardly anyone works to a significant savings...(ignoring the cost of mod & installation)There is however ONE MOD, (NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED)that works!!!Remap the stock map of your ECU....If you tweek the fuel/air ratio and the firing angle of the ignition, car will be more powerful and using less fuel in the low end rpm. You'll also need less pressure from your right foot to push off. All in all, it equate to better FC....However, do note... your right foot may betray u becos with power...u want even more power....hahahaha

Kb27 Supersonic December 18, 2017 Share December 18, 2017 Car makers already max the way a car can save fuel. There's not much mod you can do. They tried adjusting fuel/air mix to save fuel. More air (lean burn), it seems is good to save fuel, but you lose power and the engine gets very hot. So you have to buck up your cooling system or the engine can breakdown. Fuel = power Fuel is also cooling. So when you rev hard, more fuel is injected with less air = waste fuel. They tried adjusting your timing advance. Too much advance to extract more power, the petrol may self-combust, pinged and damage the engine. To prevent pinging, you have to upgrade your petrol RON. And of cuz pay more for premium petrol. So they put a knock sensor in the engine, to retard timing, when ping is detected, to safeguard the engine. Now, 3rd parties are so clever to change the algorithm by remapping. Do they take into account the safety and reliability of the engine ? You may save some fuel and blow your engine. Who knows ? The surest way to save fuel is indeed the driver : 1. You don't floor the pedal, the engine will pump more fuel to prevent engine damage. 2. Lighten the load, the car carries. That's as much as you can do. And then enjoy the ride. Or if possible, leave the car at home and walk.
Yeobt Supercharged December 18, 2017 Share December 18, 2017 there are few things i usually do to lighten my car. 1. remove the spare tire. 2. replace 2 bucket seats from the original seats. 3. no fat girl is allowed.
Volvobrick Hypersonic December 18, 2017 Share December 18, 2017 No need to mod. Braking is pure waste of kenetic energy. Don't brake when you drive. Definitely saves a lot of fuel.....
Watwheels Supersonic December 18, 2017 Share December 18, 2017 This thread digger sure knows how to dig up an old thread. Want to save fuel? Why buy a car? Buy a bicycle. Why ppl make such irrational decision? Spend how much to reflash the ecu? On an old car? Might as well spend it on fuel. Or spend it on a set of new spark plugs and a new engine air filter.
inlinesix Hypersonic December 19, 2017 Share December 19, 2017 I am asking this qn becos i am buying a old car, hence i ask this qn to see how i can try to save fuel. FC/km x km = Fuel consumed. Once km = 0, it is THE best saving.
inlinesix Hypersonic December 19, 2017 Share December 19, 2017 If one service your car as recommended by manufacturer and with reasonable driving habits ~ this is at best the average person can achieve. If modification made, will the cost of modification justify the fuel savings. The amount of fuel savings from modification ~ how many dollars for the lifetime of the car The best bet is to buy the lowest c.c. car you are willing to accept rather than buying a huge 4litre car. Plan your route and stop taking car ride. You will be quickly realised just how much money you save. Go for hybrid or electric. Rather than service based on factory recommendation, i says to follow my rule. For annual mileage less than 20k km, best to do oil + filter change every 5k km. Engine oil should use either 0-30 or 0-
