Toyota Camry

Dear MCFer's, sorry to ride on this thread. 2 questions and I hope someone can help ...

1) The new Lexus ES - is it the same shape as the Toyota Camry? I tried to compare the side profiles but cannot come to a decision. I am keen on the new ES but if it is the same shape less some tech in the car, I wouldn't want to get the ES.

2) I thought the Lexus IS was the "baby" Lexus? How come the ES is priced lower than the IS considering it is the newer model?!?!?

Hope someone can shed some light!

ES is front wheel drive right? IS is rear wheel drive.

Rear wheel drive is expensive to manufacture and assemble. Any rear wheel drive car will cost at least $10K more than front wheel drive car.

You can only get cheap rear wheel drive car from Daihatsu Terios 1.5M (2 wheel drive version) which is no longer being imported.

Over the weekend ... I went to BM to have a look at the Camry and was keen to explore further as a potential ride in the next 12 months.

I really could not believe my eyes! The interior was shockingly average! I was soooo underwhelmed and disappointed. I asked the SE if I can change to colour of interior leather and if I can change the faux wood panelling. The answer was no. There was no one in the showroom either!

SIGH! My wife was happy as she will not have to hear me harping about how we need to change to the Camry anymore!

Hi guys,

I just confirm a used 04/09 Camry 2.4L with a used car agent. I convert it from OPC to a normal plate for daily drive. I got it at $69K, and depreciation is about $13k plus per year. Do you all think its worth it?

There's no way you can run from 12 or 13k depreciation nowadays. Vios, Altis or Camry all 12 to 13k. Might as well.

Why did you trade in Axio? COE end or other reason? actually Axio is quite reliable car,

in current high COE period, renew COE is a smart option, renew 5 years only 30k+, yearly depreciation only 6k+

No particular reason, just happen to see this Camry and the condition of the car is still good and it fits my budget so just think why not

drive a bigger car for once. :D

in Singapore buy used car, you have to be very be careful,

if mileage more than 100k km, better think twice,

otherwise repair cost may burn you pocket a big hole

09 car leh. How not to clock in excess of 100k? Generally 100k is OK. You should be worry if mileage is more than 200k. Then again, if the car is well maintain with diligent service, even at 200k, it be better than a car which is negligently maintain and less than 100k. Thats my thought.

Its an OPC and I convert it to a normal car plate. The mileage is less than 80k and its genuine as I have personally gone down to Borneo to verify, so that part is confirm fully serviced by AD. As for the rest of the car will request to bring it down to my work shop to check. I guess normal wear and tear is normal.

if the condition good, i think should go for it. besides your mileage is real. I mean, 13000 x 10 cannot get you a car this size brand new.
