So many VW Sciroccos on the road

just went to VW recently to test drive the 1.4 rocco. Smooth as silk, in no time im already at 90, and i didnt feel any shift at all. Great car for auto driver with this DSG geabox. They really do get the best of both worlds (auto feeling and manual power).

 

I sat at the back, good headroom and legroom (i am 1.8m) even when the seat infont was set at my driving position.

 

Car price at 117k, after the 10year road tax rebate etc, other discounts, priced around 108k. OMV around 24k. the 2.0 priced at 155k, so after d/c shld be in the 140+ region. For what you get in this car, I think its good value for money. 18' standard too... And of coz, the car looks great from all angles (i still like brera though..).

 

The SE looks even better.

yeah i dont understand why people say 7speed DSG is jerky.. its not at all, slow or high speeds.

 

rear space is very good, especially when exterior of car isnt very big.

In terms of looks - it's just average similar to many hatchback - (resemble the Mit Colt of many years back)..with the current px tag..it's not value for $.

kids nowadays damn spoilt. period. so many youngsters getting a car from their parents, just because these parents don't want their kids to suffer under the sun, stress, travelling time, etc. can't stand it when they complain after that. should be happy if one can take taxi whenever needed. how can sgp rely on this kind of up bringing... ha don't dare to imagine!

When i drove the 2.0l roco, it was smooth all the way, like most ppl say, really couldnt tell that it is shifting the gears. But it is a very competent car. Comfortable and modern. The only thing to nit pick is that the handling and steering feel is non existent. But i guess all modern cars are bulit this way now..

 

But i will encourage people to get the 2.0L instead of the 1.4L.

Sciroccos is a nice car BUT whenever I stopped behind it, I will think of "Kong Ba Pau" (chinese traditional hambuger), duno why??

I love the Scirocco, but i've got slight claustrophobia. The driver's seat was slightly unbearable for me, and when i went to take a sit at the rear, i thought if the car was in motion, i would have started puking. Maybe a coupe is just ain't for me ...

 

I like the Volvo C30 though, coz it has the airy feel and i think the dashboard looks way cooler (i don't like the blocky design of Volkswagen vehicles) and it has the most comfortable seats in a car.

 

And back to Volkswagen, i think the choice of materials in some parts of the cabin is so un-Volkswagen - hollow, hard and brittle. Especially the $150K Tiguan, just run your nails along the upper part of the doors and you will understand what i mean...

 

I love the exterior looks of the Scirocco but the interior is not my cup of tea. A pity.

 

BTW, my friends call the Scirocco a Golf that has been squashed. :)
