S2s1 3rd Gear January 26, 2019 Share January 26, 2019 Damn! I'm in the same situation. They changed the pads and the sound is less frequent but has not completely eliminated the problem. When I go to the svc center ... no sound. When I drive home, the sound came back. Also living with it coz I dun know how to explain and don't have time to keep going back to the service centre. Quite frustrating.Mine occurance is very little. Normal flat or up hill braking will not happen. Only downhill (or unflat surface downhill?) happen but rare now. So sometimes not even hear once in a day. ↡ Advertisement

Amator207 1st Gear January 26, 2019 Share January 26, 2019 Anyone here has suspension and brake noise issues? My car seems to be a 'shudder' coming from the engine bay or front suspension (can't really tell from where) when I drive over humps. Is yours the FL model? From what I understand the suspension and various chassis components has been changed for the FL Mz6. Strengthening of certain areas, Steering mounting points as well as liquid filled bushes in the front.
Amator207 1st Gear January 26, 2019 Share January 26, 2019 Agree. Mazda got it right with high compression ratio which most, if not all, turbocharged engine will not be able to achieve this ratio. The FC reported by edwin is fantastic for non-hybrid vehicle. It is an industrial yardstick for most motor company. I hope they can lift up the benchmark with Skyactiv-X. Part of the reason for the good fuel consumption is that the gearbox and ecu are paired to run in eco mode. It will constantly drop to 1500rpm and hover below 3000rpm. Downside to that is a very laggy unresponsive throttle response in that region. This Skyactiv 2.0 is actually a high rev engine with powerband >4000rpm. Bad news, Richard. They called me and said no stock, and could not tell me when the stock will come......Yup, too many people have called up to get it installed and TEK can’t cope

EdwinLee_146267 1st Gear January 26, 2019 Share January 26, 2019 (edited) Is yours the FL model? From what I understand the suspension and various chassis components has been changed for the FL Mz6. Strengthening of certain areas, Steering mounting points as well as liquid filled bushes in the front. I had the 2016 and now the 2018 model. Both had the same suspension noise. Granted the 2018 has a softer and more cushy ride but the suspension noise is still not rectified. Mazda changed some bushes but that did not eliminate the sound completely. It comes on and off over certain humps and at certain angle, so very hard to pinpoint. Start/stop is more refined and less intrusive to the cabin in the 2018 model. Overall 2018 model is more refined than the 2016 model. Transmission shift points have also been tuned to harness every Ib of the Skyactive power. Wow... thought the startstop in 2018 MZ quite unrefined; cant imagine the 2016 version(then again, I am first time owner of car with startstop.... maybe other brands just as bad? Any bros here with experience of brand with least intrusive startstop?

Amator207 1st Gear January 27, 2019 Share January 27, 2019 Which is why, if you really want the Skyactiv to "reveal itself", there's this interesting switch for "Sport Mode". You'd then get the thrill of that 122 kW of power to unleash at your bidding. The good news is that despite that tuning of ECU, gearbox and engine, throttle response is still decent. With a slightly harder tap on the accelerator pedal, the computer senses your intention, downshifts the gear, and the revs start to climb briskly. For me, I sometimes find that the gearbox is dragging a lower gear a bit (esp when I get a bit *enthusiastic* with the pedal), I use the paddle shifter to force an up-shift. Yes it needs a forceful prod to activate the kick down switch.Sometimes I’m not really in the mood for that shove and just try to keep up with traffic flow but the gradual depressing of accelerator proves fruitless
Amator207 1st Gear January 27, 2019 Share January 27, 2019 Btw, I found an interesting you tube video but can’t post the link. Type Savagegeese 2018 Mazda 6. From 7 min 50, the car is hoisted and they talk about suspension and chassis updates. I had thought from the description, these updates would have eliminated the knocking sound.
