I would still rather wait for the car to be fully warmed up to its operating temp before moving out. This is indjcated by looking at the temp gauge or waiting for the blue temp indicator to turn off. Just a precaution to minimise wear and tear of the engine's pistons.

 

Am new to Mazda as well, searched a few sources and all indicate no need to wait, but suggest not to stress the engine. Now I don't wait, just drive slowly to carpark exit, by the time at carpark exit, the blue indicator would off.

I'm not waiting either. I used to drive Mazda 3 and it has high rev warm up too, but it is not as noisy as Mazda6.

 

May I check, what is map version?

 

I took out the SD card, use the Mazda toolbox to detect the map and it shown 2017 Q4.

When i check for software update, its say the software is up to date. But under the map version, it shown there is an update for 2018, but there is not button for me to continue to update.

As I had posted a few days ago I just booked a 2018 Mazda 6 2.5 premium last Saturday... Seen alot of comments on the expensive carplay and android auto by TEK.

Just to share, for those who bought the 2018 mazda 6 if not given carplay and android auto you may wish to negotiate with TEK depending when your purchase was.

Perhaps can get free or lower price if make enough noise...

 

In their promo no cut off date was stated, can refer to the promo screen shot and spec sheet dtd Jan 2019 below

I agree. Most car sites mentioned that you just need to be gentle with the throttle when engine is cold. Best way to warm up the engine is by slowly driving the vehicle.

I have a lobang for a 3 year old Mx6 2.5L, annual depre around $9.2k (only!). But I'm still thinking long and hard whether to take the plunge and change from my current Korean SUV.

 

My concerns are:

Insane roadtax at $1.8k/yr

Smaller cabin and boot space compared to SUV

Start/Stop system (i tried before and i'm not a fan)

 

But im inclined towards it because:

Mz6's handsome looks

2.5L drives like a dream, at least when compared to my SUV

Quality of interior (comparable to my previous conti)

 

Any advice from Mz6 bros here?

While the drive of the 6 is excellent especially when compared to an SUV, an SUV is a very versatile vehicle. 2.5 also has high running costs. So I say keep your SUV if it is still in good condition.

I got mine as a 2 year package. Price is quite competitive but my SE manage to nego $200 down from the initial quoted price when I provided an alternative quote... Guess you have to ask around to know...

The road tax is high, but then again, you're paying extra for the horsepower you get with your right foot. You should have a look at the road tax for the Stinger GT (3.3L V6) and think again whether your $1.8k/ yr is still crazy.

 

The Mazda 6 has its own merits and faults (no car is perfect). But almost every modern car these days has the infernal start-stop system. The smaller cabin and boot space is an issue depending on your needs. If you're ferrying younger family members, it's generally still okay. If you're ferrying older family members with hip problems, then a SUV will be a better choice.

 

Just shop around. You never know, you might end up with another excellent Korean car.

Sorry if me feeling that roadtax of $1.8k/yr is insane offended you.

 

I am not complaining about the overall cost of car ownership in Singapore, thus I do not think that I needed to reconsider private car ownership as a whole. I jus don't like the idea of paying more taxes that I already am for my 2L SUV.

Honestly, given that everyone is into SUVs these days (even Rolls Royce makes SUVs now), it makes more sense to stick to SUVs given the merits of higher driving position, higher hip points (better for older folk), more commanding road presence and better cabin space and comfort.

 

Not all SUVs are made equal however.

My Mz6 12mths old. Entitled 3 years free service + warranty.

 

Got this $1K service voucher havent use yet. Valid 36mths. So 24mths to go.

Most probably change batttery and tyres at outside workshop when due.

Then voucher what to use for?  Any suggestion. Thanks.

BB cars would be about 20k nowadays...

 

- xar 100k or 11k including interest

- road tax and insurance of 2k

- petrol of 2k for well used 20k km/yr

- maintenance of 1k

- etc.

his new  Mazda 6 has  driver memory seat,  the seat will move back and return  to preset position whenever he gets into the car, is this the correct setting and is there a way to disable it ? he is worried about the motor lief span.

Very true. 

 

Road tax is paid once a year. Fuel cost, parking, ERP, speeding tickets, parking fines    are all weekly costs which is easily beyond the road tax of a 2.5L 

 

And pls, very often bigger engines offer better fuel economy due to their far better power to weight ratio. A struggling tiny underpowered engine will not give u any decent fuel economy since its made to work so hard everytime it starts. 

 

A more fuel efficient 2.5L will actually offer u lower running cost than a weak NA 1.6L

Very funny. Then why spend so much on such well equipped  Mazda 6 then?

 

Buy lower end cars with full manual seat adj. Confirm no motor to burn out. 

 

I also find it amazing that there are myth going ard that modern brushless electric motors have such short life span as compared to yesteryears tech..
