Car camera recommendation

I had my car installed with the Blackvue DR650 since I got my car keys, already drove for close to 3 months no issue with the Blackvue other than a corrupted 64GB Transcend micro-SD card. But that's not Blackvue's fault, sent for RMA and the replacement card has been working fine for the past 2 weeks.

From my experience Blackvue exits parking mode when your car is on the move, not by starting the engine. There are few times I started the car and let it warm up in the morning yet the Blackvue still in parking mode. It could be GPS sensor that detects movement, or the camera is smart enough to know it has to exit parking mode when its recordings no longer have the same framing... I don't know.

Hi, anyone here using iRoad? Is it good?

I 've been using iroad gt for almost two years. So far so good both front and rear are HD quality. Pretty clear both day and night. Not too sure if it can withstand the heat as my car parks in Mscp most of the time.

Hi bro, I paid an installer a shop located at yishun. Wires are all hidden for front and rear. The wires 're connected through a fuse near the driver side.

I did not buy the power magic though, so it will only record when drive.

I was strongly advised to get the power magic if I want to record when parking.

Yeah, power magic is cutoff if the current too low and will flat the car battery.. but not foolproof. my own power magic (cut off 11.8v) did not cut off my car cameras while stationary, end up my car flat batt at legoland.. heng the security there good and help to jump start my car...

Best is to use the external batteries to power your cameras when parking, then won't complete discharge your car battery... I know a bit leh cheh, but the xiaomi 16K batt can last 12 hours continuous recording (9pm to next morn 8am) with 2 bars left... think the 10K one can also last abt 12 hrs too..

Battery voltage is like an "after" effect indicator.

It means if you keep draining the battery, if you take out enough current or energy from the battery, the voltage will drop as an after effect.

So by the time, you read 11.8v, your battery may be so flat, it doesn't have enough energy to turn over an engine.

State of charge of a battery near room temp is 100% when it's 12.66V and essentially 0% when it's 12.0V

Taking it below 12.0V...well.. you're just trying your luck.

Its written in Power Magic manual different combo to set the jumpers when installing, when I installed the installer used this 11.8V as cut off.. its during the early days when this power magic was 1st intro.. so by what you said , then all bros better review your power magic jumpers to see if the cut off is above 12v..

for me , i get added insurance by using external battery to run my car cams when recording overnight..no need scared drained car battery...

Voltage is an indicator of a battery state-of-charge.

Unfortunately, imo the guy who set it as 11.8v does not know what he's doing.

It also depends on how big and what is the condition of the battery.

A 12.0v 35ah battery will have much less power than a 12.0v 100ah battery and the former is less likely to be able to start an engine.

So setting on voltage level is like trying your luck.

what I wanted to ask is, the car cams all worked with power inlet linked to car cigarette lighter socket. the usb cable you using, the other end is for car cam power inlet?
