Hello,

Just bought a second hand Porsche and cannot help but feel a bit lost. Not sure what is normal or abnormal.

Hope to find similar owners here. Also wondering if I could buy my own parts from online or local stockist and send to any workshop here who can help install?

Thanks

What kind of secondhand Porsche? There's those with boxer engines and then there's these other badge-engineered shared platform cars masquerading as Porsches for the heritage value.

I'm on a boxster. But I understand many parts are shared esp among various boxster types. What car are you driving?

I assume you got a 987 Boxster? That's the one with the infamous (and some say exaggerated) IMS problem. Still, it helps to install a magnetic sump plug and check for metal shavings suggesting imminent failure. Or you can install an aftermarket IMS bearing though that is an engine-out job. Other things are a leaking rear main seal (not hard to fix) and white smoke on startup - a little is common for the flat six but a lot suggests a failing air oil separator.

FlatSix is one famous I guess. You can google it. I am enjoying free service. Page bro Throttle2, he is a master blaster!

sidetrack for a bit - are there Porsche spare parts suppliers in Singapore?  feel like getting a used-useded porky but parts seem to be a major issue.

Parts are very easily available.

Door to door 3 day delivery.

From UK stockist.

So complete that, you can even build yourself a Porsche in your own backyard!

Just follow model number and parts diagram to buy. Most items are cheaper than Stuttgart even after shipping costs.

I still buy some simple low cost items from Stuttgart when the difference is tiny and when i just dont want to wait 3 days.

PM for more

Talk to T2.

But i recall he spit on BMW and Porsches.

Why would he want to consider one now?

Liberty is no.1 for Porsche.

Look no further.

Transact thru Anika brokers.

My 1st party comprehensive is $1284 annually after discounts

Cheaper than my friend on his Toyota!

Haha

Enjoy your Porsche
