demand for lower COE?

in normal ideal concept, it about demand vs supply...

but in this COE bidding system, if too many bid $1... the COE just drop...

yes, "if too many bid $1... the COE just drop..."

However, It will help other to get CHEAPER COE.

only individual will bid $1 ... hope to kena 4D

AD will not bid $1 ... each car that is sold (before coe is bidded) already pre-determine the coe level

which mean AD will bid with no mercy ... if the car is sold with 50k coe ... AD will bid $50k coe to deliver the car

yeah ... the japanese/korean AD now offer cheap cheap to lock in the sale for 6-8 bids (approx 2 months)

but they will not get the coe because all the coe will be snapped up by conti bmw/merc/audi/vw

unless the demand for conti is lower than coe supply

AD love it when the COE drops. 6 bids later, they could see additional $6K profits from a cheaper COE.

Nowhere in the world and no product, where the buyer buys something so expensive yet do not know how much he is going to pay and dunno if he can get it in the end. LTA put consumers' interest at the far bottom of their concerns.

The flaw in the COE system is that the price is controlled and determined by the distributors, who bid on buyers ' behalf.

Private car buyers should bid for COE themselves, and upon securing COE, head to car showroom to buy car.

This is a more sensible approach to bring down COE prices. I mean... Would you bid and pay $70k for a piece of paper?

volvo V40 D2 was 151k now 130k... Jetta now 118k... (not sure it is guarantee?)

mazda 6 and Kia K5 at 134k... really makes me wonder..... will they bid higher coe this time round?

Some AD interviewed on papers already said that COE price is on the down trend because it is a self-fulfilling prophecy. At current market situation, almost all dealers are offering car package based on lower COE price or rebate.

Car dealers will not bid for COE price that this higher than what they offered to customers based on lower COE price.

This may also explain why some AD are offering lower discounted car price to customers for certain car models for immediate registration using those open Cat E COEs which they have on hand. Better sell cheaper than to lose more if COE drops further.....

Today mad rush at showroom.

Cat A Volvo V40 diesel at $130k and Kia Forte at $106k.

Volvo test drive list for today had over 40 names as at 5pm today. Long wait to test drive.

Cat B Made in Japan MAZDA 6 and Korean Kia K5 saw healthy bookings at $134k with guaranteed COE. *Why buy a Thai assembled Toyota Altis 1.6 when you can get a Japan made 2l MAZDA 6 at the same price?

With strong bookings, Next round COE is expected to go up.

Are you a car salesman?

:D

If the upcoming 1st May bidding also sees a similar reduction in COE price, this might signify a new comfort level for COE pricing which historically has been in the high $70k - $80k… Maybe settle down to a revised comfort level of $50k [thumbsup] ?

It will be a very interesting bidding exercise next week and I am sure many people are now holding back to observe what happens then! Good luck all as it is anyone’s guess!

Knowing those aiming for use car very likely can't afford the 40/50% dp of a new car, why would they reduce price for 2nd car?.. They are in the market for business, not charity...

What happens when the claw-back stops on January 2015? [sly]

Who says it will stop? They just have to announce on December that they decided to continue the claw back until 2016 lor.. Easy peasy lemon squeezy... Hehe
