The current congestion is caused by them, they had more COE to pleased the people and to allow off peak cars on the road. But now most of the off peak cars have converted due to high COE. I believe they will not make the same mistake again. More COE maybe a bit more.

More COE not = to price drop.

A bit more, but they still want to ensure that coe remain that high so that they can justify that it is a way to curb vehicle population. Also, its a real-money income for our garmen.

Twincharged

If more buyers are united, stopped buying inflated 2nd hand cars from dealers, they will have no choice but to export/scrap them, furthering the process of freeing up more COE.

found the report ...

from ST:More COEs next year, free train rides not decided: Lui

Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew has advised aspiring car owners to wait till next year when the supply of Certificates of Entitlement (COE) increases.

But he also stressed that the Government is doing its utmost to make public transport as convenient as possible.

During Channel NewsAsia's Ask Minister programme, which was broadcast on Tuesday, Mr Lui took questions on a broad range of transport issues, from free trains rides to making roads safer for cyclists.

In the last bidding exercise, COEs for smaller cars cost nearly $17,000 more than the premium for cars above 1,600cc. Mr Lui said it will take several bidding cycles over the next few months before COE premiums stabilise.

Ha this is good, one year later the COE is still getting higher... and public transport "conveniently" breaks down...

argh...thanks. I was wondering too.

So that's how it works. Actually for up to 3rd quart 2014, I have given up for cars.

But I am curious to see how vulgar Cat D would become.

Yesterday, my wife and me parked the car at the last lot of our carpark and walk home. Along the way, we were counting the numbers of "old" cars that would be scraped within this yr or next. Walau........soooo many!

No need to count, most cars on the road now are from 2005-2008. Esp during the 2005-2006 era. Ther are also plenty such cars in my workplace and home carpark. Not many new cars spotted in my home carpark, but noticed quite many used cars added. Seems like there is not much reduction of cars in my carpark. Could many car owners when their due to scrap, they then bought another used car, thats why still many cars. But majority cars are "old" cars.
