BCA gives the green light for Jem to re-open, ceilings in mall are "sound"

The false ceiling had earlier collapsed due an overload of the ceiling support system following the build-up of water from a burst water pipe.

The BCA said a mechanical professional engineer engaged by the building owner had inspected the pipework system and certified that it is safe for operational use.

BCA has failed in RCA (root cause analysis) or has something to hide... false ceiling collapse and build up of water is consequence of the burst pipe.. did BCA annouce WHY the pipe burst?? Was there a fault in the piping, piping material, piping routing, support for the pipes??? Why no one ask these questions? if these are not answered, the same water ponding-ceiling collapse WILL HAPPEN AGAIN...

I'm not going to JEM until they have explained clearly the root cause of this issue... [knife][:|]

BCA gives the green light for Jem to re-open, ceilings in mall are "sound"

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has allowed Jem Shopping Mall to re-open the affected area where the false ceiling had collapsed last month, it said in a statement on Tuesday.

The false ceiling had earlier collapsed due an overload of the ceiling support system following the build-up of water from a burst water pipe.

The BCA said a mechanical professional engineer engaged by the building owner had inspected the pipework system and certified that it is safe for operational use.

A civil professional engineer had also investigated the cause of the incident as well as the false ceiling systems in the other parts of the mall, and confirmed that the design of the ceiling systems is sound.

I tell u wad, i went to buy gold at p-- ---g on the day the ceiling collapsed.

I bought in around 12pm, then they adjust the gold. They say around 5-6 hours can come back and take

Then i went to send my aunt to city, i almost almost almost dont want to go back jurong to take the gold cos too far already. Think other day can get.

In the end that day since nth to do i went to JEM collect, at night i saw the news, i was like heng ah if not my gold bracelet stuck there for how long already [laugh]

It's Lend Lease's retail property. Second (???) green field retail development after the highly successful 313.

the aussies should learn how to name their developments..

Jem is so inauspicious... my mother says it sounds like jam... progress all jammed up
