there's no ceiling..they used suspended rods to hold the lighting

So if the pipes burst again, then we know immed to take out the umbrellas, instead of waiting for the false ceiling to fall on us? [laugh]

Not sure if they get anyone to 'bless' the mall before re-opening? It's encountered a few mishaps since / before it opened earlier.

Blessed by the water pipes but they forgot to open ceiling to receive the blessing... so ended up getting blessed by water and ceiling :D

Some shops in JEM open for operations on October 2.

JEM reopens to public

JEM shopping mall in Jurong East opened its doors to the public on Wednesday after a false ceiling collapsed about two weeks ago.

The JEM management added that retailers will not be charged rent for the period their premises were not accessible.

And to welcome shoppers to JEM, JEM will be providing a number of offers over the next few weeks which includes first hour free parking between 6am and 6pm daily.

Vouchers will also be given away as part of the mall's promotion efforts.

The JEM management also assured members of the public that the mall underwent significant testing and rectification works following the incident.

Rod Leaver, Chief Executive Officer Asia at Lend Lease, said: "The mall has undergone inspections, rigorous testing and certification by the independent expert parties, and we've worked in close consultation with the retailers and the authorities.

"For the retailers and shoppers, their safety is paramount to us so I would like to thank the tenants for their very strong support to Lend Lease's decision to put safety as a top priority.

In a statement released on October 1, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) said that the false ceiling had earlier collapsed due an overload of the ceiling support system following the build-up of water from a burst water pipe.

Hypersonic

Actually I think now is the safest period to visit JEM because of all the checks and precautions. Can't say about the future though.

Most will wear safety helmets or walking beside the tallest person ..... [sly]

These "most" peoples will die together with the tallest person in JEM due to the fact that a human back bone can't withstand impact weight vertically from top.

I would be the only survivor [sweatdrop] if JEM ceilling falls again because I must walk beside you everywhere to take full advantage of a safety "gap" between any fallen object and the floor.

Human rib cage are proven strong to protect internal organs, therefore my surviving chance are very much higher. The safest crushing cushion are especially with those who are having very fat body [sly][laugh]

You are my Life Line [inlove]
