Drove the SMART tunnel in KL - that one so long never maintain - is corrugated until become like speed regulating strips. Later you wait MCE become like that, then close half the lanes for resurfacing - then watch the jams!

Sum up, want very smooth road, be prepared for higher expenses for road maintenance.

The MCE is a huge con job. Years back I wondered why malaysia KTM was given that out of nowhere plot of land in exchange for giving up the railway land to Singapore. Now we now why najip n pinky recently have selfie.... they r developing that area to make money.....

Can you elaborate? I don't understand what you're trying to say.

It has nothing to do with the road. It is because the driver CAN'T drive. A lot of driver "overly cautious". Look at PIE to CTE entrance. The long q is caused by drivers rather than road design.

Well, I would think road design does really contribute to the jam there and not just the drivers.

IIRC, from PIE it was 2 lanes into CTE soon merging into 1 lane and then this 1 lane meets another 1 lane from don't know where which merges again to 1 lane before reaching CTE entrance. At the end of the day, 3 lanes merge into 1 and add on to that, drivers need to enter the faster flowing CTE. Like that sure jam even if all are F1 drivers and in F1 cars not to mention that actual scenario has all types of drivers with all types of cars. eg mine is a lao pok car with slower acceleration than the newer makes. Floor pedal also can't make it accelerate any faster from slower speeds. lol.

Remember - we are talking about Altis Uncle and Volvo auntie drivers here - they cannot handle bends. At All.

Read today paper, got big big ad from LTA - full colour in ST - dunno what other papers also have.

Read also in yesterday paper about the delays - shudder to think what happens once traffic back to normal volume. OUCHEE...

But now mebee can INCREASE ERP as traffic speed will be slow!! Charge $20!!

Bing bing bing

volvo auntie? [laugh]

ya.. next week certainly can see if the traffic turns for the worse [dizzy]

KPE - ECP - Rochor. Exit still there.

thanks.. just tried again today.. ya.. it's shears...

instead of last time continue right from the end of kpe, now becomes middle/left.

coincidentally a volvo last minute cut into my lane to get onto shears and i had to brake hard to let him (or her) in..

i guess we got to be extra alert during this time

That's why u need to matching the speed of CTE in the filtering lane. Whenever i have opportunity, i will be driving around 60 - 70km/h in that lane. Juz need to tap a bit more to reach 80 - 90km/h.

Most driver drives at 40 - 50km/h there. How to catch 80 - 90km/h in the expressway?

Mind u, i m driving a lightweight lau pok car also hor.

from west, how to get to Rochor? I know it is AYE to MCE (exit2) - Central Boulevard then how to drive to Sheares Bridge to ECP? I was lost due to lack of good signboard to Rochor.

Does anyone know how to turn to Sheares Bridge? I saw streetdirectory, is it going thru ERP and right turn from Marina place or Marina way?
Appreciate advices

yes you are right bro. Papzi dun do things without thinking ahead first (MCE is exception..!)... They will plan ahead to do things that will benefit themselves and their kawan, all quiet quiet first.. but in the backstage, they have all planned out what to do next... thats why the Msians were willing to accept that land, since they were privy to the info that the new CBD coming up and it'll be goldmine land there.. Moving the expressway underground is just a cost to incur by us, for them to get their golden eggs....

Pui!

From Rochor where you heading?

Nowadays, I avoid exiting at Central Boulevard unless I'm heading to MBFC area. If you want to head to Suntec, turn towards MBS at Central Boulevard, I think it's faster. Should be the same for Marina Sq, Bugis, Raffles City, Esplanade, maybe even Golden Mile. But definitely longer journey.

Personally, i now continue onwards to CTE and exit Havelock Rd.

Exit Central Blvd, halfway along that road there is a right-turn into the old ECP towards Sheares bridge/Changi direction.

Check out www.streetdirectory.com, the roads there are already updated. Google maps still not 100%.

Seems that most SG roads adopt this merging concept which is the cause of most congestions, maybe some school of road engineering advocate this.

Agreed, wondering why there are so many merging lane here? It's really slow down and cause jam!

I wonder why cannot be 2 lane straight out then merge further down the expressway. There is one place where they adopted this and congestion has improved a lot (compared to before) ie. CTE northbound turning into PIE Changi.

Cannot. That road profit margin very high.... $6 IIRC. Where can LTA earn so much money so fast. Public Carpark will take min 3 hours just to earn that amount.

i rode my bike on New Year Day from West to Central Boulevard. Traffic is super smooth leh.

However, it now takes a longer distance to reach MBS from Central Boulevard compared to the previous exit.

In conclusion, those who take taxis or private transport will now have to factor in an additional 5 minutes or so to make up for the extra distance travelled.

when 3 lanes merge into 1, it will be difficult to keep a 60-70kmh speed in the acceleration lane, esp during peak hours when it becomes harder to get into the CTE. It only takes one slower driver and it will create that ripple effect down stream.

I already gave up on that exit for some time already. It is always jammed. Most times, I continue on PIE till stevens road exit to get into Orchard.
