2 years ago, I was in Hong Kong and joined a guided tour where there is a mixture of singaporeans, Pinoys, Japs etc.

 

The Hong Kong tour guide in the coach was trying to point out that everyone always think the best of ourself compared to others, so he started asking a question to the ladies inside the coach,'Which country man is the best?' The pinoys started saying loudly pinoys man! and giving reasons such as sexy, macho, romantic, hardworking, clever etc etc...there was so much laughter and nodding from the pinoys camp.

 

The rest of us were generally quiet, until the tour guide ask a singaporean family for their answer, the husband answered, 'singaporean man, because we will never allowed our singaporean women to go overseas to work as maid! it is a disgrace to singaporean man if that ever happens.'

 

suddenly, there is an eerie sense of quiet among the pinoys and you can see their faces changed, there was some soft replies in tagolog but we don't understand although the hongkong tour guide seem to undertand and he stared other topics of conversation soon.

 

let me tell you, i was trying to act cool as if nothing is happening but in my heart, i sibeh SONG!!!

errr....laying cables manually is a talent hor......so is laying bricks and cement.....so are hammering nails into wooden panels and wood. Ask the miw to do all these things and i doubt they can even do it and most probably will ask a contractor to do it!

We need to recognize vast types of different talent. In general, there consists of blue collars and white collars. As long as it help our economy, that suffices. The problem is, a small percentage may be appreciative and grateful to be given a chance to earn a living here as why we have this very thread.... Ha ha ha

We need to recognize vast types of different talent. In general, there consists of blue collars and white collars. As long as it help our economy, that suffices. The problem is, a small percentage may be appreciative and grateful to be given a chance to earn a living here as why we have this very thread.... Ha ha ha

yes...true. We need talents....those at the top of their profession and at the bottom of our workforce. In between most Sgians can do but wouldnt want due to the low pay and odd/long working hours!

I thought the definition of Foreign Talents means talents from a more developed country that can do the job more professionally and better than Singaporeans. If that happens, I have nothing to say. But how come they are here to do jobs that Singaporeans can easily do. They are just cheap labour (CL), not Foreign Talents. The definition should be changed to CL.

CL at our expense hor.....! Went to a chalet at east coast a few weeks back...kns....our nx door neighbour was a pinoy group....nb...noisy as hell! Best thing was the place was maintained by bangalas....so unkempt, dirty and hardly any maintenance....used to be a good place to unwind and relax. No more east coast chalet for me anymore.....changi and pasir ris better!
