159er 5th Gear December 28, 2015 Share December 28, 2015 Chelsea 0 - 0 Man Utd at 30min mark. While this is still a stalemate, the 30 min that I'd seen were the best 30 min from the team the whole season. There was more purpose in their play. They were creating chances and a number of decent ones with Mata and Martial coming very close. Rooney had a long range shot saved. Good play. Hope they will score soon. And it is why i am watching 2nd half. Come on, MAN UTD! ↡ Advertisement
Ngseeming 5th Gear December 29, 2015 Share December 29, 2015 Pray tell how someone who targeted next 3 wins (after the loss to B'mouth) and reportedly given an ultimatum by the board to win at least 2 of these 3, and now defiantly say there is now no reason for him to quit aafter achieving only 1 out of 9 points?. While the draw was the best 1st half that our team had produced all season, but MU played at this level or better on regular basis under SAF. If we take the draw as a step forward, in reality we are further adrift from the top 4 postion. LvG would have some beathing space as MU has easy 2 league and FA cup games before going to Anfield. Stick with LvG and if MU don't qualify for UCL, then it's bleak outlook for the next season. It was reported that Pep might snub MC and choose Chelski or MU instead, if and only if they qualify for UCL. Same goes for the top players.
Hiphiphoray 6th Gear December 29, 2015 Share December 29, 2015 It could have easily gone 1-0, 0-1 to either team. Its unbelievable how many open goal sitters opportunities both had and yet didn't score!!!!

Only the 1st 20 mins of the game let us felt the Man U of old... frankly as a Anti MAN U fan... I am equally disappointed at how they are now... used to hate them so much... can call it jealousy but now... don't know what to hate them about... they no longer strike fear... their 250 million is almost non existent in terms of performance and with a Manager who doesn't seem to get the best out of his resources... they would have done well to get Kloop... he might not be best tactically but he shows heart and emotions.

Ya, somehow the players forget how to play well shortly after they don MU colors. I believe, like the pundits said, LvG's rigid and stale philosophy stifle the creative players. Unfortunately MU may never be able to hire Kloop due to the rivalry reasons. I admired his works at BVB where he kept the team on or near top of Bundesliga (except his final year) despite losing his best players every year. I like his quotes too, I remeber he said (not word by word) on his rousing welcome to Anfield : " its not important what others think of you when yuou come, but what others remember you when you leave" - make me think about LvG- regarded him as a savior who would bring attacking football of Ajax, Barca and BM era. Now I can't wait for him to leave so that I could whole heartedly support MU again. I in fact had watched a few of LFC's games since Kloop took over. I must say the only game they played badly was that vs Watford.

Guess now LVG has the board's backing for now and all he has to do is to make sure Utd does not qualify for CL so that Pep only has City and Chelsea in his sights and LVG gets a contract extension due to a lack of decent candidates since Ancelotti will be at BM and Pep at City/ Chelsea? Completely agree... initially I thought Man U were getting a safe bet by hiring LVG... but I changed my perception the moment Di Maria was dropped... I cannot believe a player who was shining for Madrid and now for PSG can suddenly become bad..... it is all too clear that creative players will never turn good playing for LVG... even Mourinho did better in this aspect... and LVG was too stubborn to realize that possession nowadays can no longer win you games... lesser teams now don't need much to score... passing sideways is really no longer effective... only the game first 20 mins we saw the old United WANTING to go forward... but subsequently I believe the fear of losing set in and they allowed Chelsea to settle in... but draw was probably a fair result for 2 struggling teams... Jamesc Hypersonic December 29, 2015 Share December 29, 2015 I knew this match would end in a draw. Its quite obvious really when you think about it. Both managers are from Holland and so they went Dutch and shared the points.
Ngseeming 5th Gear January 2, 2016 Share January 2, 2016 (edited) Louis van Gaal defended his decision to let Javier Hernandez and Robin van Persie leave Manchester United as he said he did not want too much competition at the striker's position. Van Gaal also loaned James Wilson to Championship side Brighton and the versatile Adnan Januzaj to Borussia Dortmund. "I don't believe too much in competition," Van Gaal said. "I believe in trust and confidence. Maybe that is wrong but I have done it all my life. I give trust to the players." But he said that Martial and Rooney would have been under more pressure if he had more centre-forwards and felt it was better for them to have less competition for places. Van Gaal admitted a lack of goals is a problem, but said United require more good fortune, rather than signings. "How many players have had the chances to score and why they didn't score? You cannot always explain that.'' - from soccernet. With average of 3.5 shots on target per game and the lack of goal is down to fortune? We don't need a clown when we have LvG. Except he doesn't make an entertaining one. Edited January 2, 2016 by Ngseeming

Although he is scoring in the Bundesliga, it does not mean he will score in the BPL even though there were flashes of goals in the past. He is at best a sub because he can't play full matches well. As much as I hate LVG at the moment, I do not think a change in manager will change the club's fortune in the short term. There is still 1/2 a season to go and we should get behind LVG and the team to steer the club out of trouble. My 2cents. GGMU!

GGMU! there is always this question asked, still got half a season more and if result still getting bad how much more can we tahan before considered sacking him? if by end of jan we have dropped to 10th? (which is very possible stoke city holds tt position and is just 4 points behind) do we still stick behind him and let the team rot? of course this is the worst case scenario, but i nv held up my expectation despite last night win, struggle to beat a bottom team at home and swansea do have their chances to equalise too. ↡ Advertisement
