  1. Can't find a thread in the forum so here goes. Hopefully ideas from someone who has been in that area of GB. Planning a trip to visit in-laws who live in Blackpool in June 2023. Will likely fly in via Manchester. Travelling with wife and child. 1. What are my options for a car rental at the airport - do I go with the usual Sixt/Hertz..etc or are there other reliable options? Am looking for a manual small car/sedan with unlimited mileage. Would like a ' decent enough ' car - maybe a Bimmer or equivalent , possibly an M3! 2. Does Waze / G maps work well there ? 3. There will be parking at home but how do you usually pay for parking at touristy parking spots ?
  2. the new season starts with Man Utd's pre-season US tour... 1st game this Thurs... all the best for this season!!! GGMU!!! Sanchez not on Man United's flight for U.S. tour http://www.espnfc.com/manchester-united/story/3567675/alexis-sanchez-not-on-man-united-flight-amid-us-visa-issues-sources via @ESPN App http://es.pn/app
  3. Sir Alex Ferguson returns to the United dugout for the fixture, while popular faces such as David Beckham, Gary Neville and Andy Cole don the famous red shirts once again. The likes of Stefan Effenberg, Ze Roberto and Lothar Matthaus all line up for the Bayern team. These old man played so much better than the current Man U Players.
  4. Time for us to be great again! GGMU!!! Will JM bring champions league football back again? Will we even be champions of England?
  5. The new fixture list is out. Man Utd play Spurs on the opening day. Falcao on loan to Chelsea. Is Depay the answer?
  6. Probably apt to start this new thread on the appointment of Louis Van Gaal. Giggsy will be his number 2.
  7. Though this season it has not been the greatest start for us, I beleive we will be able to bounce and fight back till the very end. GGMU Fletcher relief at comebackDarren Fletcher has revealed the full extent of the illness that kept him out of contention for United for so long. Over the last two years the 29-year-old was beset by ulcerative colitis, a chronic bowel condition, and following surgery the midfielder spent a lengthy period recuperating before returning to training. Having gradually returned to fitness, including some outings for United’s Under-21 side, the midfielder made his first appearance for the senior side since Boxing Day 2012 as a substitute in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday. Fletcher’s every touch during his 20-minute cameo was cheered by United’s travelling contingent of supporters at Villa Park, but afterwards the Scot reflected on just how close he came to never stepping out onto the pitch again. “If the operation was not a success there was no way I would be able to play football,” he said. “My everyday life would be very difficult if it wasn't a success. It was two or three operations not just one, so it was psychologically challenging dealing with surgery as well. But I couldn't live my life at all. I needed something to be done. “There was a day in about May when we said 'this is it'. Once I came out of that operation it was going to be, 'this has either worked or it hasn't'. It was a very emotional day. "There was a lot of fear and anxiety and a lot of build-up. But I was in the hands of an unbelievable surgeon, and I put all my trust in him. He was confident, as long as I did everything right. He was confident all the tests were right. When that moment came, it was such a relief.”
  8. This thread is for positive contributions only.. Flamers, please stay away.. Many thanks! As the season draws to a close soon, it's time for the transfer activities to start rolling.. Ferguson has announced that he will be looking to bolster his squad.. So who do you think Utd will sign for the new season? Utd has already signed Chris Smalling from Fulham and a certain Javier Hernandez, whom is a Mexico International.. I really hope Utd will bolster their attack by signing David Villa.. If there's anyone that can match Torres in the league, it's Villa.. It'll bring more goals to the team hopefully, and there'll be someone to share the goal scoring burden with.. In fact, Villa seems a more natural goalscorer than Rooney is.. Next, United will need a good midfielder.. I'm thinking Jack Rodwell.. That lad has impressed me.. Maybe one more playmaker in terms of David Silva.. It will bring extra flair and creativity to the midfield.. I dunno if SAF will bring in a keeper to replace VDS, but if he does, I hope it'll be Casillas (Fat hope! HAhaha).. Or a more realistic choice is Sebastian Frey.. Or maybe Buffon.. But Buffon will cost a bomb to sign.. Welcome all Utd fans in.. For all other fans, please refrain from posting unnecessary comments.. I seek your kind consideration.. Cheers.. :)
  9. Hi as mention..what will u think will be the score tonite?
  10. Barcelona masterclass Fergie: Barca the best I've faced May 28, 2011 Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson acknowledged the club's opponents in the Champions League, Barcelona, are the best team he has faced in his long and distinguished career. 'We were beaten, there is no other way to address the situation, by the best team,'' he told ITV1. ''I expected us to do better but at the end of the day we were beaten by the better team. They are the best team we have ever played, they are at the peak in this cycle of their team. ''There was good evidence we are a consistently good European team but we were beaten by the best team in Europe and there is no shame in that. Sometimes you come up against a far better team and tonight was one of those nights.'' Ferguson insisted United tried to play their normal game which was good enough the win the Premier League this season but they never got to grips with the way Barcelona retained possession and dominated midfield. clap clap
  11. Finally City managed to beat their neighbour Good game 1 leg down, hopefully complete the hattrick

  13. From Soccernet. Updated: January 23, 2010, 8:00 AM UK Wayne Rooney scored a sensational four goals to send Manchester United top of the Premier League at a mutinous Old Trafford. After opening the scoring just seven minutes into a one-sided contest against Hull, Rooney had to wait until a similar point before the end to get his second. A third, and his fourth United hat-trick, followed shortly afterwards from a cross by the excellent Nani before Rooney completed his own personal massacre of Phil Brown's men with a solo effort in stoppage time. It certainly confirmed Rooney's well-being ahead of that powderkeg Carling Cup decider with Manchester City next Wednesday and fuels Sir Alex Ferguson's belief his side are on the verge of something big. Victory and status are just part of the story at Old Trafford just now though. After using a large chunk of his programme notes to plead for unity in the stands, Sir Alex Ferguson must have been dismayed at the volume and regularity of the anti-Glazer chants that echoed around the ground. Ironically, it generated an atmosphere sometimes missing on days like this. But it is going to take more than mere words from Ferguson, as revered as he is at United, to ease the growing tension at debts that have now shot through the
  14. A Man City fan, a Man U fan, and an Liverpool fan were all in Saudi Arabia, sharing a smuggled crate of booze. All of a sudden Saudi police rushed in and arrested them. The mere possesion of alcohol is a severe offence in Saudi Arabia. So, for the terrible crime of actually being caught consuming the booze, they were sentenced to death! However, after many months and with the help of very good lawyers, they were able to successfully appeal their sentence down to life imprisonment. By a stroke of luck, it was a Saudi national holiday the day their trial finished, and the extremely benevolent Sheik decided they could be released after receiving just 20 lashes each of the whip. As they were preparing for their punishment, the Sheik suddenly said, "It's my first wife's birthday today, and she has asked me to allow each of you one wish before your whipping." The Man City fan was first in line (he had drunk the least), so he thought about this for a while and then said, "Please tie a pillow to my back." This was done, but the pillow only lasted 10 lashes before the whip went through. The Man City fan had to be carried away bleeding and crying with pain when the punishment was done. The Liverpool fan was next up (he almost finished a half-can), and after watching the scene, said, "All Right! Please fix two pillows on my back." But even two pillows could only take 15 lashes before the whip went through again, sending the Liverpool fan sobbing and crying like a baby! The Man U fan was the last one up (he had finished off the crate), but before he could say anything, the Sheik turned to him and said, "You support the greatest team in the world, your city has some of best and most loyal soccer fans in the world. For this, you may have two wishes!" "Thank you, your most Royal highness," the grateful United fan replied. "In recognition of your kindness, my first wish is that you give me not 20,but 100 lashes." "Not only are you an honourable, handsome and powerful man, you are also very brave," the Sheik said with an admiring look on his face. "If 100 lashes is what you desire, then so be it. And your second wish? What is it to be?" the Sheik asked. "Tie that Liverpool fan to my back."
