Ya I watched live on TV as well, seems like Rossi kicked at Marquez but he'll probably say that a collision was about to happen or already happened so he just defended his bike else he would be sent flying?

I'm not sure of the rules on this but it sure looked dangerous at close to 300kmh.

Guess the guy having the last laugh would be Lorenzo as any penalty on Rossi will lead to him either overtaking him in the race for the Championship or closing the gap. Really exciting and must say MotoGP beats F1 in the sense that overtaking possibilities are always there unlike F1 [thumbsup]

So exciting all the red mist.

Rossi got a 3 point penalty and will have to start at the back of the grid in Valencia. Should be an interesting race.

The story is that Rossi belives that Marquez is deliberately making things difficult and helping Lorenzo to win the title.

The on-board camera shows Rossi lashing out.

If he did lash out, then he deserves the punishment meted.

Just saw Lorenzo comments on Fox sports claiming that the punishment meted out to Rossi was unfair to Marquez n Rossi got away with it cos of his name! Didn't expect a team mate to be so outspoken n vocal over this controversy which had nothing to do with him but guess with the title on the line, Lorenzo wanted heavier punishment!

I tot i saw marquez coming into contact with rossi's knee 1st. Then a natural reaction will b to push b the force which is pushing his knee..,therefore look like he kicked out.

If that accident had gone "more wrongly" or the safety gear hadn't protected Marquez, there could've been a totally different kind of red mist involved.

Rossi is a psychopath and should have been punished much more for that stunt. You can race aggressively, but when you kick out at someone whose flesh is covering metal hurtling at over 200km/h, you deserve to be jailed. It's criminally negligent.

And the way he lied about it and minimised everything - true calling cards of a psychopath.

But this link explains a lot about how MotoGP (a sport which I've mostly lost touch with now - I used to watch back in the Wayne Gardner-Wayne Rainey days of yore) is administered:

How about that? If you admit you did it deliberately, you're rewarded with more penalty points, but if you lie like a psychopath about it, you're not hit as hard. [rolleyes]

I'm going with Rossi's explanation

He should have kept his head focused, but the way things were going there was a 50/50 chance of both of them taking each other out. MM was riding like a dangerous prat. There are many examples of hard but clean racing out there, this was not one of them.
