Are you one of those grab phv drivers who fetch grab hitch?

What do you expect?

No I am not. If I am one, why would I want to do hitch? The fare is so pathetic. Let me quote an example. Today I hitch one from CBP to siglap, fare only $7. The rider told me normal grab is $23, meaning driver will take home $18.40 after commission by grab.

No wonder many grabhitch driver do many pickup per day?!

Yes, stacking of riders. I do once in a while too but max 2 la. Edited by Fcw75

I guess grabhitch is not for driver to earn profit de, it is merely for driver to earn some money to cover petrol a bit lo. This is why fare is so low. Even you hitch 2 persons, fare still go by per trip and not per head right?

Wah, Grab can be 3x the price of Hitch, then Hitch is pathetic - still need to detour/wait for passenger/cancellation/use data & voice etc. Hitch is 50% of Grab would be more reasonable.

Hitch is for driver to give people a ride for a small fees so as to cover the petrol cost. Most hitch drivers will hitch people if it's a short detour. Personally I only hitch people if it's a short detour and detour more than 2km, I'll forget it and just travel alone.

Exactly, grabhitch is not the same as normal grab, so driver should not complain on picking up passenger. Cause they can choose and pick the passenger that they want, and grabhitch driver does not depend earning from hitching.

Yep, not forgetting you drive all the way there then they cancel the ride with no repercussion.

If you need to drive all the way there to pick up your hitch, dont think it is consider hitch liao la. Hitch should be something along the way, same route as you will be going and pick up people along the road and head towards the same direction. So even rider cancel the ride, by right it should not affect much on you.

Funny why we need to lie or give excuse on something which is our perogative to provide or not.

Of course you can choose to reject outright but most people wants to end things amicably than on a sour note.

Used to do it when I was with another company. Could cover my road tax.

Now new job very inconvenient. People can call me anytime.

Most embarrassing if I get buttered on the phone with someone in the car listening to the conversation.

Actually if dropoff is more than 3km over ur destination then its not worth to pick as it translates into extra 6km trip. Unless fare $15 then can consider

A friend told me to try it as he has managed to build up a useful network from Grab Hitch over the years. Did it a couple of times just for fun, I kept in touch with only one of my hitchhikers so far. She is in an industry whereby we can leverage on each other for business opportunities.

My first passenger talked darn big, another got on the car and left his ear phone on, the last one talked like she knows a lot about her industry but I know she is just a very junior staff.

The money is secondary, so i don't detour more than 1-2km. This can be fun if you get to meet interesting people. Don't think it has worked for me.

Quite true. 6km + 3km to pick up = 9km = ~ $2 of petrol.
