Just slightly off topic, is a taxi driver, the only job reserved for citizens other than SAF? Talking about typical jobs for the masses and not MP or ministers.

Policeman can be a PR right?

Saf, Cabbie, Dishwasher, Cardcollector, Janitor etc all reserved for local born citizen [lipsrsealed]

Those millions wage post all for FT  :o

Sorry for OT but seems like it is the truth

PS. Even most of MIW are not locally born  [sweatdrop]

Erm.. His post although very sarcastic, but if think deep it make a lot of sense.

If skillfuture course end up having like how to be a phv driver and some sort of similar, you know what is the end result? The end result is that it does not help people up skill as these sort of courses are not quality courses that help in critical thinking, problem solving, IT and etc.

See when government put in fund for all these, it start to degrade due to many small startups will start to misuse this skillfuture thing and set up ah ma ah gou cause. No good.

Want to have skillfuture course can, please have quality course and not any ah Mao ah gou course that only waste government $500 funding for each person.

Most of the time, when governments put in money for all these kind of programme and courses, it will be prone to abuse as the net effect of people thinking. “it's not my money" so when taking courses will not think much and want to find one that is presumably no need to fork out any cash. Then those that does not help any upskill but more of a want or gimmick also can as long as no cash outlay.

Then for those who want to setup skill future course, will want to package it such that it will not exceed 500 and anything also can be it is useful or not useful as long as don't exceed 500. End up how? It become wasting government money.

Like for this case, how to be a phv driver? Comeon.. This one why need to take course? People can't think normally until need to take this course to be a phv driver? If like driver cannot earn, they need to figure it out themselves like where to go, work at what time and ask around for senior and of phv Facebook and etc that is free and not this low quality course. Why I say low quality? Coz to be a phv driver anyone can do as long as can speak English and have driving lesson more then 2 years and took pdvl corse. This is without the need for any extra course. So this how to be a phv driver course become low quality and will waste government money.

I just wish I can offset more of my 5k professional course instead of the miserly 500......just a 10% discount... .Black Friday/11/11 discount got more....

And the 40mil fraud case just makes it all the more frustrating....  <_<

I took TDVL long ago at Tampines Safra. I attended something like 30+ lessons and it cost more than $200. After maintaining it for about 5-6 years, I let it lapse as it required the licence holder to go for yearly medical exam. I said forget it and let it lapse!

I don't think is annual unless hit certain age? I hold one since 30, think went for checkup once or twice only for renewal purpose

Folks,

Under the pandemic situation, online lessons have flourished and there are also many courses payable by SkillsFuture credit.

Have you been attending any?  What are the most useful and popular courses now?
