It's the personnel that makes the difference. This Spain team is clearly not as good. GK - DDG is a superb shot stopper but he doesn't seem to organise his defence well. Casiilas is a great all round keeper + he is a leader Pique and Ramos need a Puyol type figure. Xavi & Alonso stands head above current crop .... Striker - no need to say. To put this into perspective, Wales has Bales, and England has Rooney. The reason why Kane could do well at Spurs was he has someone like Christian Erikson behind him. Wayne is the hardest working player I know..but I think the guy got confused and disorientated by Van Gaal playing him in out of sorts position... Bulk of Icelandic players are plying their trade in "small" teams..... Woy is a mid-level team manager that is totally out of his depth and clueless on the international arena. England has been missing a dexent manager for too long... There are teams that just overhype and flop in major tournaments. When they play for country their attitude totally change. These are multi-millionaires with luxury lifestyle and possession. Their minds are probably thinking of their summer holidays before going back for BPL. Playing for country is just another credential to land them into the next bigger club. It is then no surprise that when Marcus Rashford got onto the field, it seems that only he is interested in playing. He has not got his riches enough, and has lots to prove. I have seen too many unjustifiably snide remarks from pool fans about roy's ability. although he is not an outstanding manager, there has been many much worse English managers than him. don't take it out on him just because he helmed Liverpool at one of pool's lowest point, although he have to thank rafa benitez for precipitating that low point. if my memory serves me right, the point where Brendan Rodgers left pool also not much better. while I do agree he got his tactics wrong this time, I say don't put your Liverpool emotions into the unsavoury assessment of his ability. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Gone are the days where their possession and beautiful tiki taka can carve out openings in opponents at will... This is the outcome. Slightly better but not very significant improvement from the embarrassing exit from World Cup as defending champs too. All overrated. But they had Capello and Ericsson who were decent managers before they took up the job leh... I think it's the country lah.
