Vinceng Turbocharged December 28, 2017 Share December 28, 2017 (edited) ah? what happened to 164k and 204k? 22k added to both figures.... 22k is not chump change.. hahaha. thanks for the info. makes me want to keep my car even more. Cycle & Carriage is probably testing the market with such exorbitant pricing – at $17K and $21K annual depreciation for the 2.0 and 3.3, there’s many better choices. Would be very interesting to see how the Stinger would uphold its resale value – better to buy a used example when it’s available in the resale market and save $30K for a year old Stinger… at least your pocket does not get stung with a big hole. Freeder Hypersonic December 28, 2017 Share December 28, 2017 (edited) Pre launch price is out. Stinger 2.0 - $186K (consider Passat 2.0 TSI R-Line) Stinger 3.3 - $226K (consider BMW 530i SE) For this money, I rather get a true blue continental car for the same money. This is the list price la... Nett price will be up to your nego power liao.... Dun scare all the peeps here lei... However , if mgt Stinger cars at $135k , it will be a no-brainer for me.. Vinceng Turbocharged December 28, 2017 Share December 28, 2017 (edited) Hyundai Genesis 3.8 was selling at $230K, when Cat B COE was at a high of $70K in 2015 - and sold barely a few units todate. https://sg.news.yahoo.com/230k-hyundai-020545780.html Hyundai Genesis - $90K depreciation in 36 months http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=703666&DL=2927 What's so distinct of the Stinger 3.3 to command a selling price of $226K with Cat B COE at $47K now? xinz 3rd Gear December 28, 2017 Share December 28, 2017 IMHO A very pretty head turner with many design elements from Merc, BMW, Maserati and Audi. Gears and Spec are also very exciting. The price is rather steep for a Korean brand, which is new in this segment. Budget car buyers are not in this price range and premium car buyers are not in this brand. To capture market share, I think Kia needs to do better on price before attempt to level up the game. Brand aside, it is still tempting to consider this car with such look and spec.

Passat specs is a bit lower (i probably rather top up a bit more and get an A5 sportback) and also quite a different kind of car/clientele as stinger (maybe the CC would be more comparable). As for 5 series, the cheapest i see is 520i which is $263k+. Not sure where you saw the $226k 530i SE? And also i don't think it is the same kind of car/clientele as stinger. Again, A5 Sportback might be a closer comparison but will definitely lose out in performance-to-price. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_overview.php?CarCode=12049 The above notwithstanding, am disappointed with how the prices turned out (not that i will be getting one anyway) and I hope stinger won't suffer the same fate as genesis. So only value-conscious, brand-unconscious premium car buyers and/or buyers who want something that stands out from the crowd (and yet cost less) and "dare to be different" will buy it. I mean if i was going to splash $200k+ on an A5 SB and suddenly i can save $10k-$15k yet get significantly more performance then hey, why not? I can say that if a Stinger arrives at a place alongside a 5 series/E class/A5, etc, I am sure it will be the Stinger that will attract all the attention.
