Soya Supersonic May 16, 2017 Share May 16, 2017 Lunchtime talk: Assuming u looking for a fun runabout, 2nd car, budget ard $115k, would u go for a new PI C-HR 1.8S hybrid or a slightly used, 116d management car from PPSL? I know one is hybrid and one is diesel. Common thread here is 4 dr, around same price, both unique in its own ways. Newbie_newbie 2nd Gear May 16, 2017 Share May 16, 2017 I got a C-HR 1.8S hybrid as a 2nd family car - for wifey to run about getting groceries and ferrying kids to/from school no complains so far Depends on individual preferences lor... - if badge is priority then go for beemer - if buying from AD is preferred then go for beemer - if scared of PI then go for beemer - if worried about hybrid battery then go for beemer - if new car is priority then go for c-hr - if maintenance costs is priority then go for c-hr - if fuel consumption is priority then go for c-hr - if you are a greenpeace fan then go for c-hr - etc etc

Hummer 3rd Gear May 16, 2017 Share May 16, 2017 If using for mostly short 5 mins trips to buy vegetable, better stick to CHR. DPF may get clogged in the 116d due to frequent short trips? or maybe this is no longer an issue.......
Shox87 4th Gear May 16, 2017 Share May 16, 2017 fun factor: bmw 116d surely. chr: not a fan of hybrids & the odd-looking design(out for me)
Etnt Turbocharged May 16, 2017 Share May 16, 2017 you can buy a hybrid later, but this is the last few months to get a diesel rwd hatch before the new VES screws diesel vehicles royally.

Soya Supersonic May 16, 2017 Author Share May 16, 2017 CHR got the looks. 116d got the substance. One is from the future, the other from the past. One is untested, the other is proven. But both equally cramped. Tough call sometimes.
TangoElite 6th Gear May 16, 2017 Share May 16, 2017 if comparing the drive, the obvious choice is 116d if overall package, and "pleasure" of ownership, i will choose C-HR 116d is indeed more fun, but this car has been on the roads for ages, not an exciting new model anymore. C-HR on the other hand is brand new, looks amazing, although the drive is much less fun, but good car to try out hybrid if you haven't had one before. Saw a C-HR on the road last week, it's got a lot of "presence".
