Ppl buy BMW because how it drive.

Sometime, oil leak is not really oil leak.

This is especially for cars which drive in start-stop traffic.

Yes, agree. BMW drives well, even for the entry models like the 1 series.

Seems to me that the notoriety of BMW oil leaks is mainly form the E90/F10 or earlier generations.

Oil leak could be due to many issues, modern BMWs often have oil leaks due to the gasket hardening of the engine oil pan or the timing chain cover.

Among all people i know who drives relatively modern (<6 years old) 1, 2, 3 and 5 series, i don't hear them complaining about engine oil consumption/leaks. But I do hear from Audi and VW owners.

Usually BMW and reliability don't pair well.

Oli leak is common in most conti vehicle.

Agree that BMW reliability is not as good as a toyota.

While toyota offers reliability, BMW offers many other things that a toyota does not offer.

I am considering a switch to X5 from my current GLC. I rent alot when I am in the US and have driven X3s mostly. I love the drive alot and of course the looks.

Now that a bigger car is needed. X5 7 seater is in the shortlist. We hear alot of the oil leaks and the reliability in general. Never had a owner verify this.

Can someone share with me the issues they face and the probability of facing it please

TIA

These days X5 do comes with 5 year warranty / maintainace and free repairs ... So got nothing to worry about except for tires change ....

Just remember before confirming with your sales , to nego for replacement car during service and repairs then you are all covered ..

X5 third row are for kiddos .... , X7 third row is really decent ... Price diff not really big , X7 will be the better choice if third row is important to you .

Wife drives the X7 as daily without any issue for the last 18 months ... M5 no issue for the last 2 years ...

Just dun get the X3 lo as the back row are cramp and hard ...

thank you all for your feedback.

More thinking needed.

I managed to secure my GLC at <20K/year depre. the X5 will be over $35K/year.

In door is very different from outdoor sun.

Similar like those mscp polishing. Upon collection. All nicely, glaring, shinning polished. Once out in the open you will see the defects. My view. 😁

Once you take flash light shine on the paint work, simi mark also come out.

Defect can't get away from brightly lit room.

@Kopites Sometime people doesn't relize buying entry level BMW or Mercedes thinks buying creme de la creme product, the hard reality is, this is basic model car even it's considered as a budget model in its country of origin. The one makes it expensive is ownership tax structure and COE to be able to own car in SIngapore......

Sometime people ask cosmetic perfection of Maybach Or RR from these entry level conti car...........sorry to say need to wake up from la lan land, just be reasonable.
