Very difficult to bring a foreign wife here if she doesn't have a degree. My cousin married an Indonesian woman. She couldn't get PR. Always on LTVP. Even after they have 2 kids, she still on LTVP. No PR.

My blue collar colleague faces the same problem too. He's in his late 50s and his Viet wife is still unable to get PR despite giving birth to 2 children. He's worried. What what will happen to them should he suddenly pass away. His 2nd child only few months old.

I think Malaysian ladies make very good wives.

:D

I also think. I guess the proximity and culture similarity play a part.

They can go back Vietnam after that. If your colleague inherited his CPF money to his children, should be able to support themselves there for many years.

Simple answer. Cos Singaporean girls I feel are materialistic and/career driven. BUT MAINLY ALSO I hope to retire in a village one day and lead a simple life with maybe visa runs or something so I don't think I can achieve that with a Singaporean girl.

Depends how the guy wants to plan for the kids. Sell the HDB flat for more money can pay off some of the debts, if his debt level is low.

Shi tua lang is traditional Hokkien, quite universal in Taiwan, China or Singapore. Technically, literally it means "old or elders in the family", but usually refers to parents. Nowadays, young Singaporeans don't know or don't use it, they use the more direct and informal pek bu, which is more crude.

I tried to use shi tua lang in taiwanese hokkien dictionary.....cant find anything! Oni found an article about a chinese south east asian(singaporean or malaysian) who said the taiwanese found her hokkien strange......to rojak a mixed!

Have lah ... åºå¤§äºº, but it's all in Chinese.. It's from classical Chinese, not a recent invention at all.

Hahaha.....i wrote in english! Not sure of the origin so wont speculate. Maybe the story of Sundaland is true.......origin of the east asians! Could have been a big land area (bigger than india) with similar but distinct language and must remember during the ice ages most of the earth are under ice except those near the equator. Just a theory.......but it made sense!

I think those educated and with skills are easier to get PR?

My boss's son Korean wife already got PR because she's educated.

My friend's Vietnamese wife also got PR cos she's educated. She can speak English and Chinese.

I think can right? My neighbour"s PRC father in law ever worked as dish collecter in foodcourt. I dun knw wat pass was he holding. I presume it was LTVP.

Everyone please read up on the womens charter act. No rational person will sign on such an unfair contract, especially guys.

Sg govt policy is bent on a perpetual marriage. The exit clause is punitive.

Get a companion but not a local marriage. Worst case get married overseas.

Seriously go read up.. or on any topic regarding div.

Isn't it always marriages of two families, depending on how you look at it. But of course, if you are marrying someone not in less than ideal financial situation, then likelihood that the burden coming to you will be higher. The opposite is of course also true, and it can also be such that the other family don't want anything to do with you. [laugh]

Yea, but I don't think I've seen many foreign brides being good mum n willing to work hard for family esp those v young wed to near retirement age men. They just waiting for old one to go then come back claim their share of inheritance

I think must get approval then can work. My cousin did the same thing for his wife. Wrote in and say she is only on LTVP because they haven't approve the PR for her yet and difficult for them to survive on single income.
