Hcity 1st Gear January 4, 2022 Share January 4, 2022 i think all the talk/advice that promotes exercise to improve health is "putting the cart in front of the horse". to improve health safely, exercise should be the #3 or #4 item on the list. it is very sad to read in the news of people who collapse and pass away during exercise (running, badminton etc), my own ex-colleague was one such case. ↡ Advertisement

What is even more common is sedentary peoplae collapsing while not exercising.. Usually early in the morning.. Anecdotal evidence from someone close seems more real than actual data. Driving kenna, sitting on the couch kenna, die in the sleep kenna all these sedentary events outweigh those who exercise, but yet they register clearly in their mind the one who kenna while exercising. 530 per million vs 22 per million, the odds for general populatin Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is 510:22, i.e a person is 23 times more likely to kenna a non-sport related SCA event compare to one during a sport event. A moderate intensity of 150 minutes per weeks as set by the AHA guidleine is a good start to improve your cardio vascular health, this is undisputed science.

I guess sometimes it boils down to luck. Some things we can control, some we can't... at least we try our best to keep fit to reduce risk, can't blame ourselves.

Over the years, quite a few people I know suddenly collapsed during/after exercise and returned IC. Mostly fairly normal fitness types.

I can accept that as fact. However it’s like vaccine dissenters who cite someone who had a reaction or died after taking the jab, “but what if……?” The fact is that the vast majority of people who exercise regularly are statistically likely to have better health and less prone (but not immune) to collapsing suddenly. Although exercising or staying sedentary is still a matter of choice, the government is clearly incentivising exercising with free trackers and steps challenge vouchers to try to stave off a looming wave of patients with lifestyle-related diseases.

Like always hear people go for health checkup yearly, and yet can still collapse suddenly or kenna some cancer after the health checkup report came back pink of health. 😅 Also like you have high cholesterol but take med to control, cholesterol level is good and normal and yet doctor also say high risk getting stroke is reduce but maybe still can get stroke. So sometimes also cannot think too much and worry too much.
