Weekdays all say not free sigh... After work means family commitment

Same same for me.

My time alone is precious to ponder on life and what it is for me.

I reflect at sentosa mostly to think deep of these things and it calms me.

Every year is a bonus so it’s good to take check and have that perspective.

Ts should treasure that

There's really never lack of things to be done.

If you still have parents around, spend some time with them. If they are gone, spend some time with your kids.
It could just be a lunch date if they are bit older or u can fetch them from school.

If everyone has flown the nest, learn a new hobby. U can paint, learn the piano, listen to new bands/music, exercise, go for walks, do simple DIY projects.

If really have time, then go travel lor. So many guys go fishing trips etc.

In this day and age, even the most apathetic individual has access to ton of online resources to learn many new hobbies etc.

Not that I'm criticising, the worst is to be like some retirees sitting at coffeeshop drinking your beer at 9-10am in the morning.

The beer is giving you dementia and u spend the rest of the day working off the alcohol.

It's not a one time feeling lah. Been on going for awhile and too bad my firm does not have the concept of paying for unused leave days. Somewhat ironic that we are supposed to take lave to recharge but instead feels more frustrated staying at home doing nothing. (not as if Singapore has so many things to do). Maybe it's just me... Feels like we do not have many friends left

Have a hobby. Or explore new places, if you have a lot of time, like the whole day, with no commitment, need not be in singapore, but across the causeway.

During leave, it's already good that you don't have family "bothering" you, or having to run around do routine chores for the family. Luxury!

Learn how to be alone, but not be lonely.

When I have time to myself, I would go watch movies alone, go on a heritage walk, visit a museum, go walk around Sungei Buloh etc. Sometimes I would just sit by the condo pool and catch up on some reading. There is so much you can do rather than rotting at home.

It’s rare to find enough time where you can be alone. You should treasure it and spend it wisely for your own emotional, spiritual health and well-being.

I used to have 1 to 2 weeks of spare leave to clear and usually use it to work on my hobbies. But when my late mum fell ill, suddenly, not enough leave cos have to take leave to accompany her to the doctors. Now that she has left, next year, I would start to accumulate my leaves again.

I also wana cut down on my travelling, one year take 1 time aeroplane trip only and one long driving road trip. So that I will have sufficient leave left for my hobbies. My scale model I bought 5 years ago is still new in box!!! Got no time to take out to fix it up and fly it.

Donât waste time calling this so called SOS hotline.

The people are not trained to counsel the depressed and they just warm bodies picking up a ringing phone.

Have you guys reach a point where sometimes u feel taking leave is wasting your life away? More for people who has family (kids) where your life evolves around them. When you take leave and your wife did not take and you have to clear leave. Your good friends all have their own families and work so it's really yourself on your leave days. Pretty depressing... Rotting away at home and not travelling.

Have you ever gone on leave everyday?

That’ll be like me!

Yay!

But still very busy

usually for people too busy with their work/career, can always see these people on holiday, on the road, in the malls, etc... talking on phone, checking email, etc. Once they have nothing to do, they were lost.

that is why many retiree feel depressed cos you come to a complete stop of not working like it was the main purpose of living.

The only time when I can so call rest at home was during my hospitalisation( cataract) 3 weeks leave. Eventually cut short the 3weeks and back in office on the start of second week. Bitter life me.

I think your style is like mine then. I will roam the town aimlessly (lim kopi), suntan by my pool and occasionally watch movies.

I think not the same. What I do is not aimless but very deliberate.

I don’t roam aimlessly, I try to do something that I feel will bring me some peace, happiness whatever you call it. And I choose carefully what I want to do in my down time. Roaming aimlessly will make me more depressed.
