Frankly speaking even though I cycle enough, I never like cycling on PCN as most of the routes are after thoughts as I would need to stop at junctions and go across overhead bridges etc etc. Many years ago I followed my colleague to cycle from home to office using PCN and nearly vomited blood by the constant interruptions along the way. Eventually I chose to cycle through ECP and mixture of road and pavements instead. I have been thinking to do round island cycling but been put off as not keen to cycle on roads like what I used to do monthly many many years ago. In short, PCN is more for those casual or beginner cyclists but not really satisfy those more hardcore cyclists. ↡ Advertisement

For the dedicated lane at TMCR one reason could be the amount of sands got trapped by the side which is more dangerous at higher speed cycling.. and of cos there's occasional lane hogger.. and those with wider handlebar bicycle which make this lane unsafe. Peloton will definitely skip this lane as generally they go at higher speed. With the amount of construction happening around that area for the airports thus the number of lorries plying the route, I do not think any amount of road sweepers would be enough to clean up the sand on the road. Sometimes I also wonder if I should continue to cycle there as I imagine myself breathing in the fine sands which would not be good for the lungs. But unfortunately there is no similar road available so staying put for now.

As the name implies, expressways allows fast and uninterrrupted travel between places, so will provide an alternate means for cyclists to travel for work or leisure. But for that to happen, the expressways would have to be widened and definitely not necessary to provide cycle lanes for all expressways but only certain major ones. That would be wonderful if the cycle lanes could be integrated properly to be clearly segregated from the normal motorised car lanes. Really gel with the thinking to go green. Looking forward to the day it happens. These cyclist on the expressways will not be contented staying in their cycling lanes. They will certainly stray out of the lanes. Then, we will see a lot of pancaked cyclist on the expressways. Everyday will see happy ending videos posted in MCF! 1

Heartlander Turbocharged September 17, 2022 Share September 17, 2022 I think we have to learn to be more magnanimous in our thinking, and not keep harping on use of public money. Like that really got so many things to argue like why must we use public money to support welfare organisations to take care of the poor and homeless? Poor and homeless people are so self entitled people, never contribute to the society yet we have to spend tax payer money on them? Or why we have a skate park in ECP that benefits only a very tiny group of people? Or why the gov build so many parks and do up the open spaces around the neigbourhoods when it benefit only a very small group of people? There will be no end if we keep thinking along this line. If you think it is not fair for the gov to build some facilities for cycling for example, go ahead and buy a bicycle and use it to your hearts content lah. Must earn back the tax you paid isn't it like gong to a buffet must calculate how much you eat to earn back the charge? For me, my thinking is that there is something for everyone. Relax and enjoy. Even if I do not use it, I see others use and enjoy I also happy. Do not be so bitter lah.

I say...win win with our northern neighbour...build a mscp for toadtards to park their cars at tuas...cycle along special lane along second link to simi sai dome or rural B road track for them to test their lansai limit...charge them 10 dollah per bicycle each time at custom...additional kopi lui for speeding apply...😁

To clarify the cycling lane parallel to the expressway would be totally segregated from the motor lanes, which would be a major design change from current. No way for cyclists to cross over the lanes. This is for safety reason and lessons learnt from the TMCR.

Bike for velodrome is different from what is used on the road. The maintenance is horrible. The only border crossing for bicycle is Woodland. Also, I noticed your discussions here especially when it comes to cycling issues are pretty much low level personal attacks in nature " we have to learn to be more magnanimous in our thinking" = the other person was being non-magnanimous with how he is thinking. "Don't be so bitter lah" = finger pointed at the other person saying he is being bitter. We can always argue on issues and point of view, but please do not impart your judgement of the other person's opinion in the not so subtle way as what you did.
