Reckless Cyclist

No reckless pedestrian thread so I post in this. Maybe should change title to "Reckless cyclists & pedestrians"

The railing at central divider already meant "please go traffic light or overhead bridge"

Don't tell me this guy doing shutter run from roadside to touch divider and run back? Confirm taking short cut trying to cross central divider.

It all depends on how the TP IO investigates the case. Some lousy one will just pin the blame to the driver, end of story. But it's not totally wrong. Having railings there doesn't mean the driver doesn't need to anticipate sudden danger when driving.

Better change title to "suicidal maniacs". Suit them better.

My heart jump a beat upon the impact. 🤔

I would think this is something that any road cyclist would have done before. I definitely guilty of it when young, always thinking I would be lucky. There were close shaves, but I really have been lucky over the years. Very very lucky indeed thinking back haha. Especially after my bad cycling accident this year, I can really feel the pain and trauma. Instead of flying out, I was lodged in a tiny cavity not able to move, with speed abruptly dropped from about 30km/hr to standstill in seconds, barely able to breath trying to catch breath and dealing with the pain upon impact.

Some of us might be laughing thinking it is funny or justice being served, but I would urge all to be kinder. It is really painful and I would not wish it on anyone else. Yes he made a mistake and is paying the price already.

Your life is your own responsibility. Never expect others to look out for you.

People make mistakes all the time, you and me included, so no need to be so hard on them when shit already happen.

To put simply, if you touchwood ever get into an accident, would you appreciate bystanders jumping in to help you? Or you happy that they whip out hp to take recordings to share on social media sites while you lie there suffering like shit waiting to die accepting the fate because you deserve it  with your recklessness?

If you play stupid games, then you deserve stupid prizes, no?

If you live with the motto "my life is my own responsibility" or "i use my common sense to think first before doing stupid things" and you still get into an unfortunate accident, then yes, you are really unfortunate.

If somehow, you get into an accident because of your stupidity, be grateful to those who help, instead of expecting people to help. What bystanders do when you get into an accident is beyond your control, no?

However, if you bother to use common sense to think first before doing stupid things, then you probably won't get into an accident in the first place.

Motorists in Singapore have been largely tolerant of errant road users so far, be it cyclists, PMDs, pedestrians, motorcyclists, etc etc etc. Those who really get into accidents are that unlucky to have met a road user who is not mindful of other road users.

So, minimize that risk by using common sense to think and anticipate reactions from other road users first before your next action. It could save your life.

Turbocharged

i am sure all of us know how a flattened bloodied mosquito looks like on our palms.

I am sure the cyclist will look similar to a flatted bloodied mosquito if the bus brakes suddenly and the lorry slams into the back of the bus.

Great example of an idiot without common sense, doing a stupid thing. Does he deserve help if the bus suddenly e-brakes?

Totally agree on regarding using common sense. Some cyclist just take safety for granted. And one thing I noticed, cyclists are small object on the road and they are not easily spotted compare to bigger moving objects at the same time. But yet, some cyclist expect other road users to keep a look out for them. Safety is one own responsibility! If one doesn't bother with it, the rate of accident happen will just be there should the other road user was distracted.

Other than common sense, also please ride with consideration of other road users too.

Well, some cyclist will just have to learn the hardway IF they still have the chance to live. Many are just taking chances. IF they cherish their life, they won't be risking such acts. Their behaviour tell a lot about their mindset.
