Worse is when they think they are different from taxi.

Both are the same, both drive recklessly and dangerous without giving way to other road users.

While quite some of them are the "typical " grab drivers, I suspect quite many of the other geoup are retrenched corporate workers and unable to get back to their office jobs, grab is their last resort to make a honest living to get by.

You are too kind or too empathetic la. It's obviously a choice, and definitely not last resort.

Taxi driver also an honest living. Why choose Grab? And if they treat it as a livelihood, their attitude would have been different.

And yes there are Grab drivers who take pride in their job, just not many. Few in fact.

$10k earnings is group or individual? Can earn more than salaried employees now using PHV?

@Battledome64

Actually I checked with my friend who drove both PHV and Taxi before.

Fixed cost is around $140. Rental ard $90 and petrol ard $50.

If drive and cover both peak and non-peak hrs, the average earning per hour is ard $30 for the whole day.

So to earn 10k per month, one has to drive for 15 to 16 hours everyday without off day. Do you think it's sustainable???

Perhaps it's doable for the first few months.....but really affect the health in the long run........

And heart attack, stroke is common sickness for taxi drivers and PHV drivers...........

No need to buy, just book when needed. Have been taking mostly this car to/from airport.

This is meant to be driven in, not to drive.

I think PHV Alphard not as Lux as Private Owned Model.

The proper engine should be a 3.5L V6.

Here we are getting the 2.5 hybrid.

I will rather have a Denza D9 if I need such a big car.

Only A30 got V6 3.5L.

A40 got 2.5L Hybrid and 2.4L Turbo hybrid

Only Msia has 2.4L Turbo hybrid

Once when I was servicing my car at a workshop... I met an ex Banker with a private bank which had retrenched him and also because of his back issue and sedentary life style in Bank , well to do indeed.said that his kids are stil in sch.  not that old & he just works on/off in a day (he has his own vehicle a mazda 3) and said its hand to mouth but he can afford the flexi timing and keep an eye when the kids are back home (so no latchkey kids)  as wifey works full time

A30 has too many versions.

PI usually bring in 2.4L X which is lowest trim level.

A40 has 3 versions.

Preowned and fully stock,  spouse love the pilot seat as it can be inclined so always sit behind when i drive .  power is adequate but yet to try with all 7 passengers to compare🤣IMG-20250609-WA0005.thumb.jpg.e673533dd3d668f3bfdbc743c993e87d.jpg

Only their livelihoods matter mah...

Drive 18 hours a day also can. Why care about safety of other road users when I have mouths to feed?

China's largest autonomous ride hailing company Apollo Group (owned by Baidu) is coming to Singapore next year - 2026 according to Tech Asia article here: https://www.techinasia.com/news/baidu-to-launch-apollo-go-robotaxis-in-singapore-malaysia

Was surprised that Singapore has invested heavily in testing facilities like the Centre of Excellence for Testing and Research of Autonomous Vehicles (Cetran), providing Baidu with established frameworks to test its technology in real-world conditions. Apollo Group has done a cumulative of 11 million rides in China - more than Waymo's 10 million rides in the USA. This gap will only widen in 2025 as Apollo Group expands its robotaxi services in more cities in China as well as overseas. Currently 15 mainland Chinese cities have approved robotaxi services. Apollo Group's global robotaxi fleet has reached 1,000 vehicles, and it will continue to solidify its position as the world's leading robotaxi service provider, according to Baidu's CEO Robin Li.

Apollo Group has started autonomous ride hailing in Hong Kong - a RHD market with 10 vehicles in May 2025.

Competition is coming with AI driven robotaxis. As hard as it is to make a living for existing Grab drivers, things are going to be much hardergoing forward once robotaxis get a foothold and drive the costs down by around 80% on a cost per km basis. The only ones who will do well are the platform providers such as Grab/Gojek/Tada/Comfort Delgro.

Makes perfect sense. Next robo-delivery for food and parcels. No more menace from the PMD ridden by the grabfoot riders.
