Vid Hypersonic May 15, 2018 Share May 15, 2018 SCDF NSF who died in pump well could not swim http://www.tnp.sg/news/singapore/scdf-nsf-who-died-pump-well-could-not-swim Appears to be a known fact that he could not swim. This ragging to put someone in danger is unacceptable and I hope those involved are criminally charged. All sop are there. is the human factors that caused the dead of these two service men. As parent ourselves we always wondered can our loved boy defend himself. can our loved boy say No under pressure. we sent our boy to the army/service force to be trained and educated. Not sending him there to be bullied or torment. The perpetrator need to be put behind bars. SOP are there. if someone wanting to take matter into their own hands and not follow the rules than they should be punish harshly. my view. Atonchia Supersonic May 15, 2018 Share May 15, 2018 Unfortunate if not sad event after earlier NSF first guards casualty , donât know what PR campaign mode the Govt will go into ?? I know a friends mother like so hysterical right now that her only son is in BMT last month currently and wants to pull him out Donât know today if kids are strawberries or over protected or have events just gone wrong ?? RIP to the poor kid whom was going to ROD or ORD soon ; I donât remember having to go thru this ragging thing when we are ORDâing and no joke a .......12m water pit ( as what I read)!! Don't think it's the era kids are brought up. Feel it's the initiation that went wrong. My unit during training also had one initiation death. Almost 20yrs ago. But was deemed self induced harm. It is on the same level as this case.

Ender Hypersonic May 15, 2018 Share May 15, 2018 That's why i said if those NATO people really has the determination to change things, they can do something drastic. But later they will say hurt the morale of the SCDF lah, cannot fight fire anymore lah, no esteem lah... all the bull shit comes out. Need to wake up their freaking ideas lah. I think the incoming CEo of SMRT says that culture starts from the top.

So sad... another innocent life being robbed away. ð£ Ch 8 news - phone interview with his cousin. She mentioned that he had been using float for all water related training in scdf. Like that so obvious liao that he 100% cannot swim. Is his team blind? Isnt it is obvious? They are trying to kill him. I doubt the victim will die if they pull him out from the water while he is still struggling. Basically wait until he didnt move in the water then pull him out. What do you expect? See whether can revive him or not? Edited May 15, 2018 by Lotr8445r
Ash2017 Twincharged May 16, 2018 Share May 16, 2018 These are my personal observations: 1. SCDF - I am surprised that any person in any uniform group should had been taught at least the basic skill of swimming. Just how does one save someone trapped in a water filled environment. 2. It amazes me that now the "top" act bodoh and start to blame everyone including SOP BUT themselves. They were young recruits before themselves and surely must have gone through similar or identical rituals eg university ragging. 3. Claim to be 1st death in SCDF but newspaper cutting showed otherwise. 4. Why these instructors / fellow regulars, trained themselves to save people's lives but put another person's life at risk so that they can have their fun? How can we be sure these individuals will put their training to work when called upon to save citizens lives. 5. After so many deaths (one is already too many) from the Army and Student (molest case), we just dont get it? Why only do something when something tragic happens? Individuals sacrifice their time and money including their lives and being disadvantage in real life when compared to their non NS serving counterpart. How many parents live in fear once their son (only son or only child) crossed the camp gate. It doesn't end here. Many of us suffer injuries during our training and these injuries will come back to haunt us years later including our old age. These are on the job training injuries. Who pays for our treatment subsequently especially once we ROD? Many of us are suffering from knee and spine injuries. In the USA there is veteran clinic or hospital to take care of their citizens who sacrifice for the country. 6. I really hope our authorities will look into the welfare our younger generation and not just pay lip service. 7. Truly a sad day for everyone who are a grandparent, parent, brother, sister, niece, nephew or friend. For those of you who are not parents, it is really really difficult to bring up a kid up to the age of 18 years especially a good kid.

KoreanLover 5th Gear May 16, 2018 Share May 16, 2018 They need to make the top commanders liable. How can nobody at the top take responsibility when it is apparent that raggings have been around for a long time? They need to send a strong message to future commanders so that such practises can be eradicated thoroughly. ↡ Advertisement
