PCN got speed limit.. cannot go faster than 25km/h

he does not look like he is going faster than 25kph ... and i doubt that there is enforcement of the <25kph on the PCN .... unless the biker go and langgah other ppl. if the biker decides to ride side by side on the PCN, then nothing to say liow.

that being said, its all about being considerate. it would have save everyone some internet bandwidth.

KNN I think I am going to propose to LTA this.

All class 3 drivers must also take a compulsory road cycling course. And the end of the course, they must go on a ten in a team cycling test on the road. Employ this Mr Zhang the lorry driver to follow behind closely and keep hoking at them. Anyone ride out the line gets a big bang from the lorry. Now the drivers will get to feel how the cyclists felt on the road.

Also, all road cyclist must also take a compulsory modified class 3 course. At the end of the course, they must do a 2 hrs drive ard the island completing a few tasks given to them. Employ this CCB pig head  to ride in front of them in the middle of the road, anyone get too close to him or bang him, fail. Now the cyclists get a feel of how irritating it is to drive this way...

1.3,5 all roads close to cyclist,

2,4,6 all roads open only to public transports and cycling, no private transports allowed.

Sunday free for all.

So drivers and cyclists only get to meet once a week on the road.

Idea good?  [laugh]  [laugh]  [laugh]

CCB @TIANMO, I love your idea.

@lightbringer @volvobrick how's tianmo idea?

On PCN, I will not go faster than 20km/h.  It is build for running/walking.

Just like when you get into an road accident, you ask the other party everything ok, he says ok. But when the insurance claim comes, everything not ok. Everything also pain and claim injury.

When he was knocked, he broke his fall by doing a roll over his right shoulder before he stood up

I didn't see his left shoulder or arm being in contact with the ground.

In the aftermath video, 11 to 12 second mark, both his hands were gesticulating. Didn't seem injured in any way.

Unker's video should have captured his movements then.

His injuries better be real, else he's gonna be condemned even more for faking it.

Anyway the article said the left arm was bandaged. But I 左看右看, his left arm didn't seem harmed at any time.

I believe @tianmo had said it in previous pages.

Ppl choose to ignore it.

Not really...

I had a similar incident....

The person was standing in the middle of road in front of me on my left .. suddenly a car cut into my lane and instinctively I swerved left to avoid the car and hit the pedestrian

Based on your logic I would have known the person was in front and could have avoided knocking into the person..... the answer is no

I had a witness that substantiated my statement

Overhead bridge was 50m away

Fine 200 and deduct 6 points iirc for failure to keep proper lookout

What's my logic?

Fact:

To avoid a car cutting into your lane on your right, you swerve left & hit a pedestrian on your left.

You kenna fine & point deduction.  Am i right?

From legal POV, you have to exercise extra caution in this type of situation.

PCN got speed limit.. cannot go faster than 25km/h

25km/h is still much better than the 10km/h imposed on PMDs. How much can cyclists go beyond 25km/h on the roads as well given the kind of traffic, number of heavy vehicles and even sometimes the weather?

There was no such thing as cycling paths in the past for cyclists. Now these facilities are built for Cycling purposes and why not make full use of them?

LTA can’t even enforce properly those PMD nuisances. So you think they will bother about cyclists on the Cycling paths which causing less troubles?

Yes I also wonder: what is your logic?

In case you're confused, the bone of contention here is whether the truck driver's action is indisputably malicious (or whether it can credibly be called an inadvertent reflex reaction).

@Galantspeedz has related a personal anecdote that shows how this kind of swerving that results in hitting "vulnerable road users" can be completely inadvertent. It is still punishable by law, but it's basically negligence and not premeditated or malicious (which would carry much higher penalties and almost certainly have a custodial sentence imposed).

Do you get the point now, or are you insinuating that Galantspeedz was also acting with malice in hitting the pedestrian?

From your description, Yes.

For this case related to lorry driver, read Tianmo description.

For clarity, maybe you post his description

If not, later we both talking 2 different posts

Read Tianmo description of the incident.  He wrote it without any emotion unlike me.

That's the fact presented in video.

Was the person in your blind spot?

You have anticipated that the person in front has crossed the road by the time your car moved to the place he stood?

I think it's also about setting a precedent. If nothing is done about the cyclist, I worry that we will see more of such acts in the future.

I also look at the video and think one thing. Might be wrong. The reason why the cyclist move to the side is not only to throw the bottle at the lorry and break the side mirror but to move out of range of any camera the lorry might have. But lucky in this case the front car has a rear camera. Otherwise that's it for the lorry driver.

As for teaching kids I dunno since I am not married but from what I have learned in life, I realise there is a high possibility that "weaker people" like those on motorcycles would steal things from moving cars by breaking the car windows/ faking accidents and if you don't want to be "aggressor" you just encourage such behaviours in the future.

So when cases like this happen, the decision of the courts is very important.

She is in front, not blind spot.

I did not anticipate anything... a car swerve into my lane and I instinctively swerve to avoid
