Phillips screws always slip because all people use one size of driver to screw different sizes and different types of cross-shape-looking screws lah!

aka anyhow screw lah. :D

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_screw_drives

And that slipping is intended is a myth.

yeah, I took it with a pinch of salt 😁

I noticed internet has more junks lately, people just anyhow whack

it slips because people using the wrong size or the wrong type

The centre PH1 is either labeled wrongly or stamped wrongly.

Ask PUB. PUB used to give out water saving thimbles exactly like ysc3 said.

hate those thimbles that cause tiny stream water to squirt out and spilling all over the place. Many public toilets using them now.

What you can do is to adjust the valve to control the flow, if you have the open/close valve installed along the pipe before tha tap.

Interesting. I thought a cross design is just a very natural design.

And some would say it's by design to cam out, others will disagree and say it's a faulty design. To reduce damage to phillips screwhead, you need to apply sufficient pressure and make sure the driver doesn't jump off when the screw hits resistance. A clutch in the driver is used to break the power spin and take the load off the screwhead instead.

If you see those numbers on the driver, that's the clutch setting.

Better design that reduce cam out, are pozidriv, square or robertson and torx, e-torx, etc. When you see those screws or bolts in an automobile assembly, they are mainly NOT phillips.

When you let the driver free spin without doing real work, you're damaging both surfaces.

It's the same with drilling. When you drill, go slow and watch the sliver of metal shavings come out. That's drilling. If you go fast, and not cutting metal, you're just damaging the drill bit and heating up both surfaces.

I noticed the washing machine (top loader) was acting unusual just now

during the wash cycle, I can heard it spins normally but the clothes and water didn't move in the drum

it will drain and spin dry, it just won't wash, although the motor was spinning and sounds normal (got sound but no action)

after I hanged the clothes, gathered my tools, wanted to dismantle it and check the drum

right before I start work, I saw this wedging between the wash plate and the drum

20251220_003003.thumb.jpg.e16ed6a1f7def8e50f865887dda64dcb.jpg

it was so tight till I need to use a pliers to pull it out

then I try to run the machine again, this time the washer plate is spinning like normal

luckily nothing break

but I think the poor belt was slipping like crazy during the last wash because of the jammed wash plate by the coin

Well you get 50cents for all your hard work. Only way to get rid of it will be to put it into a vending machine and let them deal with it.
For some vending, you get a new coin when you slot your coin in, and push the coin return lever. Don’t really have to buy anything. 😆

Most dreaded is tissue paper left in the pocket that went for a wash cycle.

That's why I don't use tissue paper but rather napkin that wound not disintegrate into smithereen

You will need to try and remove the plate and clean what's underneath, some day.

There's more gunk from what's below. Usually it's a bolt or screw of some kind to loosen the plate. The difficult part is lifting it straight up and out.

I watched a few videos, it is not easy

things may seized up after many years of gunk accumulation

not sure if I want to do that

but I think it is filthy inside

Always screw my kids when they leave tissue paper inside pocket.

But sometimes it can also be some lining of things like mattress protectors disintegrating etc.

I'm the one who cleans it up. So I have the right to screw them.

And it's not just the clothes. The drum needs to be wiped and worst case is need a few hot cycles
