That really depends on the vehicle's depreciation number.

Note that Goldman Sachs is predicting that battery pricing will half from 2023 ($149/kWh at the pack level) by 50% in the next five years. See attached graph below.

Batteries make up a significant chunk of the costs in making an Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). I hear around 40% for B&B cars - less so for the luxury end vehicles.

What this means is that future B&B EV cars will be cheaper - just on improvements in battery technology and the fact that battery prices at the pack level are dropping. That does not take into account other future technology improvements such as improved ADAS, Vehicle to Load, Vehicle to Grid and autonomous driving features. The future looks very bright indeed for BEVs.

Looks like solar panel prices...😄

Yes, the one on the right is what the new Zeekr 7X is based on. And worth mentioning, they look totally different.

Btw, was looking at the spec for Zeekr 7X, even the least powerful variant (310KW) will attract an annual road tax of over $4.3K which is over $3K more than my T6!!

Sealion 7 not bad at RM200500 high spec 4.5s, sadly, singapore review is not as in-depth and didn't focus on safety features. I like Tai review as it's the closest and in-depth we had from a malaysia point to of view. Carbuyer and Sgcarmart video car review is trash.

Really like the initiative from malaysia LTA to put the green EU like car plate to emphasize this is an electric vehicle, which is much easier for emergency crew to identify in case of fire and accident as well as letting the public know that an EV without for those not really into car.

LTA still sleeping...shussshh 🤫

I doubt the current gen EV's will be worth extending as the tech would have progressed so much in battery technology in 10 years time.

No reason to extend beyond 10yrs, the tech in EV are like phones, they become obsolete after a while..

So those who booked at 193k all got their COE?

Or was it a ploy to lock in buyers for 6 bids so that they can't book anything else at the motorshow?

With such an un-anticipated rise of 12k in Cat B COE, I reckon most buyers will be asked to top-up.  Anyway, Model Y Refresh just launched in SG.. RWD model with CAT B COE will set you back 227.5k.  Payable PARF is 25.4k which means upon scrap can get back 12.7k.

Unlikely in SG, doesn't make economical sense.

10 yrs time, the UI in your BYD would be so laggy that you feel frustrated to use it.

Yeah. Not only that.

Also as i said before, the COE is one big difference.

To fork out a significant amount of money to drive an old outdated EV?
Lets see who will do that.

i know i certainly wouldnt

Anyway, we can only wait and see.
Singapore huat ah

Lets see who will do that. And even if they do, whats the value or resale, which is the point of contention here.

Both of you don't get it.

These cars basically have ZERO PARF.

Additional cost is COE.

Spoil? Throw la.

So simple.
