7hm Turbocharged November 22, 2015 Share November 22, 2015 (edited) Hi, was initially looking at Vezel X until i read on some post on the Vezel hybrid X. Now i am slightly sway towards hybrid but still got some questions. Wonder if Vezel hybrid can still be driven when the battery dies and is not replaced. What is the difference between the hybrid and non hybrids? Is a hybrid pickup torque more than non hybrid? Thanks! Vezel hybrid should not be undriveable when its battery is dead/flat. In Vezel Hybrid, there is an extra battery that serves as the IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) energy source, which powers a motor that delivers instantaneous torque to support the engine's output. The battery in question is charged by the main gasoline engine like a normal car, when it is low on charge. What I'm not sure of is whether the battery is also used to start the car or supply electrical power to other systems, or if there is in fact a regular battery serving those purposes. You might be able to jump start the car the normal way if that is the case. Hybrid's torque is definitely much more than the gasoline only version. Electric motors in hybrids provide instantaneous maximum torque - they can produce their maximum output without having to rev up - which greatly improves driveability and 'zippiness'. Andyngps 5th Gear November 22, 2015 Share November 22, 2015 Hi everyone, I'm planning to change to Vezel from a 1.6 2006-G9 Altis. Would like to hear from our bros here if it is noisier than Altis? Comparable in terms of cabin but vez eng is noisier since direct injection.
zeegi 1st Gear November 22, 2015 Share November 22, 2015 TBH, i wasn't sure at first, but first hand experience from somebody who drove the first batch X and driving my current S... he did comment the pickup was way better, I did get a feedback before because S model considered Sports version due to paddle shift, there is some adjustments made the gear shifting, etc, hence the feel is slightly different.. I mean i have friends from who bought from HL also go there for servicing, a guy who wasn't in uniform, i assume was like a manager or maybe a higher position guy came n talk to me, he say 0w20 engine too thin plus the hot weather even thinner which might cause damage to the engine, unless he came to me with proof and facts that Vezels have been damaged before due to 0w20 oil den i will be convinced. Anyway they do have 0w30 oils there but from what the cashier lady told me say must top up. If u bring your own oil, labour is $60. Maybe they more worried about the warranty since they buy alot of warranty from the PI.. Battery die, whole car die leh.. haha i also not sure about that.. Apparently some feedbacks from a few of the hybrid owners is that car has more power and more zip to it, due to higher BHP, more futuristic interor.. more choice of colors.. Saw that Japan has released the AWD version for Hybrid models.. I have just met up with one my old friend who is a car mechanic and another guy who is a engine oil distributor. They both mention that w40 is the safe and good option to use as it will protect engine even those FC is not good. And usually in cases when they met customer who want their way, they won't bother to stop them because there won't be any upside with further argument, after all they a doing business. So in the end, if the engine got hurt in the process, we are still the one who has to pay for it. And he have also met one customer who brought those cheap engine oil from supemart where certain adhesive are missing and in the end the engine was damage in the process but the customer was not convince either. I think this would be an endless discussion on this matter and neither am I an expert on engine either but it is good to hear another side of the story from those people working in this car industry. Its not that is not safe and definitely usable for new engines, but isit ideal? W40 oils are thicker when used after engines have been worn out over process nt for newer engines which needs thinner oils..

Anyway, i have been reading about this also but there wasn't a conclusive answer but w30 doesn't sounds wrong either, so let's see how it goes Perhaps my friend might be an old school practitioner also since he have been in business for car repair business for past 20 years, technology definitely have involved over the years. I bought 5 year old Nissan Sunny eon ago. After i took over, i used 5-30 over the years i drove it. There is no reduction in oil level. Fast forward to 2015, I am driving Mini Cooper S. I used 5-30 also. No issue also. In car business for 20 years does not mean that he is updated with new technology. MInd you, some mechanic might not even know there is used oil analysis. It makes me wonder does AD workshop use w40 on new jap cars. I was had a very lengthy discussion with him on the car industry nowdays but he definitely object on using W20, but somehow he still prefer W40 over W30 even though he didn't reject that either. Anyway, different school of thoughts.

If mechanic says because Japan got winter, dosen't mean Japan no Summer also right? I made that mistake earlier when i mentioned about it before. TBH i know almost all workshops use W40.. very seldom will reccomend W30.. dunno why.. But my old regular mechanic also in the business for 30years did reccomend me W30 for my newer car. I did ask him when i was driving my old civic to use W30, he told me W40 better for older cars cus thicker oil.. Really very subjective, but we can't challenge the R&D and engineers who study them for a living right?

He replied that it is easier to stock one type and use it for all types of cars. Else too many to keep track. He is OK if I bring my own. I use 20wt oil as per owners manual. Actually using thinner oils allow for better lubrication when the engine is cold just started. It is acknowledge that wear during this period is usually the highest. Majority of the Japanese engines recommended 20wt oils. But European it's usually min 30wt but yet we hear many more cases of engine oil consumption and stock engines blowing up from the European camp using a thicker oil.

I will most likely go for W20 as well once hit 1K. Maybe after 100K go to W30. In Singapore the biggest problem is heat build up around engine due to climate and jams/slow start/stop driving. The auto engine cut out function will help to some extent. Proper driving technique important to preserve engine. No need to floor the pedal and whack aircon to 18 full blast
Spiritual-Zen 1st Gear November 22, 2015 Share November 22, 2015 Just follow the manufacture's recommendation ..they r the one who did all the Design, R & D, testing and finally put on mass production... there's always someone who try to be smarter than the developer and builder from the manufacturing plant. Seems like our tiny little islanders are always trying to be ..kiang tu ho, mine kay kiang ...after all, we don't even manufacture any car here or Metallurgy & Oil engineers with R & D capability...just my thought.

This is the standard oil used by European Turbo car. ↡ Advertisement
