  1. I have experience lost of hydrophobic effect on a 6 months coating due to the amount of dirt and dust trapped on the surface and only used of iron removal then I am able to recover it..You will be surprise parking under a tree during heavy rain will leave a thick layer of bad elements on the surface. So what is the best cleaning solution to use weekly or bi-weekly as a maintenance for PPS to lift off the dirt? Shampoo? plain water? etc? Detailers would advise only wash with water after PPS, waxing or sealant or the most a PH neutral shampoo.. I did a small test to see how much water, shampoo and a solution O( I shall not name the product as this is not a sponsored thread) lift the dirt and clean surface.. The pictures are taken with handphone..Pardon me for the lousy pictures. The car roof surface are marked with solution 0, water and shampoo. Next I prepared a capful of shampoo, a capful of solution in the grit guard bucket and water in another bucket 2 clean wash mitt, one for solution O, one side for water, another side for shampoo on second wash mitt.. Some visible soiled watermarks on every surface before wash I soaked the wash mitt into every solution, squeeze some water out of it.. Surface washed using the wash mitt with the respective solution. Sorry to be continue later, going for my hobby...
  2. This should be a sticky. Any mods with powers here can do it. Prepare thyself! 1. Distilled water. Lots of it. Maybe 20-30L if you are anal. If not, tap water will do. 2. Soft Nylon brushes. 3. Readily available tap and hose. 4. Low bucket. 5. Wear a long-sleeved workshirt or if you can, have a special heat resistant gloves that extend up to the entire length of your lower arm. Cleaning the radiator system 1. With the hose connected to a tap, spray water onto the radiator and the fans. Don't worry the system can be wet. Some dead bugs and stones might be stuck on it. Remove them with the soft nylon brushes. 2. You might like to use a bucket of soapy water. Engine bay degreaser might help too. Draining the system 1. Firstly locate the petc0ck. Some are the most difficult positions to reach. Make sure you are wearing long-sleeved T-shirt or something. Your arms don't need Shaolin temple dragon scars. 2. Open the radiator pressure cap. For some cars, the pressure cap is the expansion tank cap. 3. Place a low bucket that can fit under the petc0ck position. Open it and let the coolant leak out. Dispose the coolant down a toilet bowl. Do not pour it down any drain. 4. Remove the expansion tank and empty it of coolant. Wash it and reinstall it back to the system. Rinsing the radiator 1. Close the petc0ck. Fill the radiator with water. Distilled or tap depends on your anality. 2. Once filled. Place the low bucket under the petc0ck position. Open the petc0ck and drain. Discard this waste down the toilet bowl as above. 3. Repeat the above steps 3 more times. You can let the waste be dumped into the drain this time. Rinsing the engine block 1. Close the petc0ck. Fill the radiator with water. Again, distilled or tap depends on your anality. Leave the radiator pressure cap off. 2. Start the engine to bleed the system. Let it run until it reaches operating temperature (when fan kicks in). 3. Turn on your heater and set temperature control to hot. This will circulate the water to the heater core. 4. You will notice that the coolant level has dropped. Don't worry about this. Stop the engine. 5. Place low bucket below the petc0ck position. Drain and discard down the toilet bowl. 6. Repeat the above steps 3 more times. You can let the waste be dumped into the drain this time. Filling and bleeding the system 1. After the last drain from the engine block rinse, close the petc0ck and fill the system with 1/2 the total volume with 100% antifreeze. 2. Start the engine to bleed the system. Let it run until it reaches operating temperature (when fan kicks in). 3. Turn on your heater and set temperature control to hot. This will circulate the water to the heater core. 4. You will notice that the coolant level has dropped. This means the air has bled out of the system. New cars have self-bleeding cooling systems. Fill with water until full. 5. Replace the pressure cap tightly.
  3. Hi guys Need advise on how to maintain the interior of the car... those vinyl/plastics parts, dashboard etc
  4. I sometimes leave my car idling, with headlights on, a/c on and radio on for maybe 15 mins at a time. I am pretty sure that this is bad for my battery, but I am curious to know exactly how bad this is. Will it half my car battery lifespan if I do this frequently? I don't need my battery to last forever, but if I am only getting 1 year out of my 2 year lifespan battery, I might avoid doing this. I know some taxi drivers do it, and some people do it for sexy time at some deserted car park, so I'm guessing its not absolutely fatal. However, there are times where I am seriously sleepy at work and it would be nice to get some shut eye in my car in the carpark during lunch time. What if I take a nap in my car for an hour with a/c on? Pls share if you have practical experience with leaving your car idling for extended periods of time, and whether you have noticed this affecting your battery life.
  5. Hi Bros, As per the title subject, how can i ensured that my CF bonnet will retain it's glossy look and also all lines & marks removed? Any polishing lotion will do the work? Or must i use specified polishing brand? A non-abrasive polisher? Or Wax instead of polish? Any wax-ing brand will do? I want to make sure that the polish lotion use doesn't "eat" into the protective laminate of the CF.
  6. Hi guys.. Is there any way, or anything you can use to apply on your rims after you have cleaned them? Last week just went for grooming, and they cleaned the rims inside out..damn nice.. now just after a few days.. rims damn black and dusty aldy. I went to autobacs and saw many rims cleaning solution/spray etc. are they good? I was thinking i could have just clean them with water and a cloth since the brake dust are not totally 'fixed' yet onto the rims. Or isit that those solution can form a coating over to prevent the dust from clinging onto the rims? My rims are those 20 spoke kind.. damn siong to clean...

  8. As above, I would like to ask my fellow forumers here that why do people still keep changing cars every now and then (lesser than 4-5 years even ? ) when they say petrol, erp, carpark charges are all increasing. Do Singapore people earn so much and have nowhere to spend? Ps: No offence to any bros here. I'm just mentioning the general population in Singapore. Not stating anyone here.

  17. Folks , Just washed and waxed my car today . One problem that I have encountered - there's a tendency for some wax to spill over to the trim when I'm polishing my car . Also, when I apply treatment to my trim after waxing, some of the treatment solution gets onto the car body . Both happen as the wax/treatment solution are applied close to the edge of the trim . How to I get around the problem? Thanks!
