  1. Tyres are important to any vehicle because they are the sole point of contact between the road and your vehicle. Regardless of the type of tyre equipped, it is always important to drive prudently and refrain from speeding, especially during wet weather conditions. Watch what befalls this speeding Audi on a rainy day: Location The incident location is on the ECP towards KPE (ECP) at exit 14. The image below is what the area looks like during good weather. What Happened? An Audi TT was travelling on lane 1 of ECP at a relatively high speed while it was raining. Due to its speed and the wet road conditions, the Audi sports car lost traction to its wheels, causing it to aquaplane. Within seconds, it spun out of control - it slid across the expressway, from lane one to the last lane. Just when it was about to smash into the railings, the Audi TT gained some traction in its wheels and seemingly executed a well-performed J-turn (out of pure luck). Miraculously, the Audi TT emerged unharmed - WITHOUT A SINGLE SCRATCH. The Audi driver probably used up his entire year's worth of luck. Netizens' Comments Confirm shrink one. I am not surprised if he stops driving after this traumatic experience. NGL, this is the fastest way I have seen someone exit an expressway. How fast do y'all think he was going? ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  2. askST: What do I do if my car is caught in a flash flood? source: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/ask-st-what-do-i-do-if-my-car-is-caught-in-a-flash-flood?utm_medium=social&utm_source=telegram&utm_campaign=sttg Singapore experienced flash floods at three locations on Monday (Nov 2). One car was seen submerged. ST answers questions on what to do if your car is near a flash flood. Q. How do I know whether I can drive through a flash flood? It depends largely on the amount of ground clearance that one's car has, said The Straits Times' senior transport correspondent Christopher Tan. Generally, it is not safe to drive through a flood. A typical family car has a ground clearance of 120 to 140mm, which is not very high. But if necessary, one should gauge the water depth by looking at the road curbs. If the curbs are still visible or just below water level, it is relatively safe to proceed. If the curb is not visible, it is riskier to proceed unless you are in a tall vehicle like an SUV or a truck. Otherwise, you may end up driving into a drain, canal or over a ledge. Q. What should I do when driving on a submerged road? Drive very slowly and steadily in a low gear to keep your engine speed high and constant until your car is out of the water, suggests the Automobile Association of Singapore (AAS). This prevents water from entering the exhaust pipe, which will damage electronics. Driving slowly also reduces the risk of losing steering control. To avoid stopping in the middle of the flood, allow oncoming traffic as well as vehicles going in the same direction to pass. Do not lift your foot or apply brakes midway to minimise turbulence and backflow that can lead to water intake. After clearing the flooded area, apply the brakes gently for a few minutes to rid them of moisture, which may have impacted their performance. Q. What should I do if my car stalls while driving through a flash flood? Do not attempt to restart it as that may damage the engine, said the AAS. Ensure the car's bonnet is closed because you may have difficulty restarting the engine. Switch on the hazard lights to alert other drivers around you and call for help. Q. Should I abandon my stalled car? It is important to leave the car and get to higher ground if the water level reaches the bottom edge of the car door, said the AAS. Avoid waiting for the car to get submerged as the doors may not open and you will be trapped inside. Moving water at a depth of 15 cm can make it unstable for an adult to walk. Upon exiting the car, call for a tow truck to avoid causing congestion on the road.

  5. a loud grinding noise from the front right of the car occurs only during wet weather. on dry weather, there is absolutely no such sound no matter how i whack the car. but 5 mins into a rain, this noise comes out, when it is loud, it is quite alarming because you might think the car is breaking down any moment. it is not making noise continuously, it on off on off during the journey. i notice it will get louder when i raise rpm, when i release throttle, it subsides. anyone had before, the car is legacy gt 2.5 auto
  6. Was driving along Jln Besar near the hawker centre this morning in the rain and then this double decker chut pattern: (Paiseh the video quality was as it was recorded by my old DOD FH500 and have since asked our resident car cam guru bro Adrianli for advise to get a new one soon) Agree it was at a bend and that there was an old lady pushing a cart obstructing the bus but still the bus driver could at least signal, check clear then filter out safely and not abruptly like that. But seriously this bend is a dangerous spot and I urge all bros to be careful when here as I have seen many such suka suka filterings since it was created.

  19. Tire rack put up a pretty nifty article about wet weather driving. Low tire pressure does not give you better grip in the wet. In fact, poorer grip. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=3
