  1. It is commonly prescribed as every 10,000km or 6 months which ever come first. If the mileage is low like around 9000km a year, is it a must to change motor oil every 6 months or can do that every 9 months instead with no problem?
  2. I changed car battery yesterday night and realised that my radio frequency and all others HU setting had been reset. so just wana check with you guys is this the norm? or something had not been done correctly?
  3. Hi All, I am looking to buy a Kenwood headunit from USA Amazon for my car. I understand that US uses a different FM frequency as compared to Singapore & i may not be able to pick up some local stations. Any bro here have experience with US headunit & is there a way to configure the FM for Singapore usage, specifically for Kenwood HU? Cheers
  4. Hi all, Does anyone know the permissible / common frequencies used in our car alarms remote control in Singapore? I believe maybe 315MHz and 433MHz? I checked IDA website and it seems like from 250 to 450 all are permissible. But whats the common ranges here? I'm also looking for a frequency meter. Just saw one for $20 but even the seller was telling me the accuracy is very bad and it appeared very plasticky. If anyone knows where to get a cheap/good one, please advise. Thanks.
  5. Does any one know what is the radio frequency for the F1 commentary? I have a headset bought at Sepang 3 years ago but could not receive the commentary last year in Singapore F1. Does the radio frequency changes at every track and every year? Can a normal radio be used to tune to the commentary radio frequency? Thanks!!!
  6. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stori...426860/1/.html SMRT's train frequency to be reduced if flu alert hits red By Kheng Siong & Lynda Hong, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 04 May 2009 2123 hrs SINGAPORE: SMRT said train frequency will be reduced by 30 per cent once Singapore's pandemic alert level hits red. This is because its service staff are divided into two teams to prevent the potential spread of the H1N1 virus. -------- reduced by 30 per cent = MRTs more packed = More chances of the virus spreading = WTF?
  7. Dear All, My ride is OPC n due to my low usage on it, my mileage currently is only about 8.3K (car is now 2 yrs++ old). My last servicing was done about 1yr ago (5K servicing) n I am still on Mineral Oil. Should I hold till my mileage hit 10K or should I send in asap (I remember my last 5K servicing, the mechanics paste a sticker stating next service period is either 3mths or 10K) I have been asking around, some told me usually OPC owner will peg their servicing session to time period (ie. Mineral Oil 3 mths, syn oil 6mths) while there r others whom told me to only send it in based on the mileage achieved. Any Advice? Thanks ** Pls dun mock at me for buying a car n not using it often. Some tragic stuff happened in the family that kinda of screwed up my initial plans on the car usage.
  8. Hi all, Wonder whether the recession affected your make love frequency with your loved one. Do we predict a drastic drop in birth rate and women conceiving in the year of the OX? Regards,
  9. Ok, this information was just to share the frequency of petrol price. I used PDA, so i have recorded my mileage whenever i pump petrol. Date: Mileage Quantity Amount Per Litre 21-02-08 27909 31.26 62.71 2.006 29-02-08 28228 31.46 63.11 2.006 06-03-08 28566 30.11 61.61 2.046 13-03-08 28899 33.78 69.11 2.046 21-03-08 29290 35.23 73.49 2.086 29-03-08 29626 32.26 67.29 2.086 04-04-08 29910 30.63 63.90 2.086 11-04-08 30286 37.16 77.52 2.086 19-04-08 30662 35.19 73.41 2.086 27-04-08 31042 37.92 80.24 2.116 Damn scary whenever i look at my collected data. lol
  10. Hey guys maybe you can help me out here. I've blown the 17yr old mids in the Sera and i'm looking for something in 4inchs to but nothing top of the range as the car is going at the end of the year when i head back home (but i would like some music between now and when i leave ) Most of the 4 inch speakers have a 90/100Hz-20/22kHz ranges except for the pioneer and kenwood units which start at a low 45Hz. The pioneer specs show a 127Hz lowest resonant frequency and i'm wondering what that is. I know 4 inch's arent very bassy but i would like to maximise this. The highs arent of any real significance as the factory tweets are pretty good. Any suggestions besides being able to explain what fo is?
  11. Hi All Just a double check, How offen should we change our oil filter, Old time ago hear people said every 2 oil change but now aday people change every oil change! Pease advice
  12. Hi I need help here. Recently I installed ICE and I encounter some problem. I am using 2 ch from my amp to drive the front speakers and the other 2 ch bridged to drive the subwoofer. the rear speakers are run by the head unit. My headunit is able to select 40 or 80Hz for the subwoofer output. Does a system or a subwoofer need more power when the frequency is at 80Hz compared to 40Hz? so far I have no problem at 40 Hz but if I set to 80 Hz, sometimes the front and subwoofer get cut off with only sound coming form rear speakers. Is it due to lack of power from my amp? which do you think will help? e.g. 1)change the headunit 2)change the amp 3)add capacitor 4)add voltage stabilizer 5)others by the way, what frequency do you prefer and why? I prefer 80Hz because I like its sound effect when playing with ministry of sound kind of music
  13. I was reading an article off the internet and came across this interesting one that discusses the possibility of producing low frequency in a car environment. The author argues his theory by using the logic of science and sound behaviour which is interesting and enlightening. To begin, we must first understand that Wavelength=speed of propagation/frequency So, to effectively reproduce freq of 20Hz in a car and by applying the formula above, taking into consideration that audio transverse at 340m per second or 1,122 feet at the temp of 21 deg celcius. We will have: Wavelength=speed of propagation/frequency 20Hz=1122/20 That means Wavelength of 20Hz=56 feet So, in order to reproduce 20Hz, you will need a car length of 56 feet. Where the hell can we find such a long car??? Bus?? Now, what about 40Hz then? Applying the same formula, the wavelength is at 28 feet. And at 80Hz???, you will need 14 feet to experience 80Hz!!! Now, that is ridiculous isn't it??? But in fact, it is possible. That is because car acoustic actually presents a near vacuum environment. The reason why sub freq range can exist in the car is because of the changes of internal car air pressure that creates what is termed as Transfer Function of Pressure Changes. Now, if the woofer and subwoofer have been installed properly and there are no serious leakages of signal or acoustic cancellation, it is really possible. Adding the fact that if the positioning of the speakers are in harmony with the subwoofer, the pressure in the car will react according to the audio, thus creating what we hear as sub freq, better still seismic (which is the ranges we feel). Of course, a lot will depend on the amplifiers and the crossover point including the db/oct slope which cannot be neglected at all. The vacuum environment at the car boot must also be air-tight which is a determinant of whether your sub ranges can be reproduced effectively.
  14. i'm using itrip to beam my songs from my ipod to my car's speakers. Currently setting it at 87.9fm but still quite prone to lotsa interference....any bros out there using a better ferquency and care to share...
  15. Anyone has any idea which range of frequency drums belong to? The backgnd drums sounds weak.. is it possible to boost it up?
  16. Hi there anyone heard or seen the Stromberg high frequency converter. Supposed to help save petrol consumption and give more power by converting existing ignition coil current to spark plugs, to higher frequency current, thus, giving more sparks to create more complete combustion process for the fuel being injected into the chamber. It sound logical to me but I thought spark plugs like Denso Iridium is supposed to perform this function of better combustion effect. This is so new and unknown to me, and wondering whether is this another fad like some of those magnetic device on fuel lines. Anyone who has info, would appreciate your advice. Anyway, this is widely available in Malaysia and well-published in their local press. Website: http://thestar.com.my/services/printerfrie...ss/mktstrom.asp Thanks
