  1. Source: https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/1-person-injured-after-getgo-car-accidentally-reversed-bukit-panjang-car-park-lot-door-open-2328001 SINGAPORE — One person was injured after a GetGo car-sharing vehicle “accidentally” reversed into a parking lot in Bukit Panjang while the car’s driver-side door was still open. Responding to TODAY’s queries on Monday (Dec 18), GetGo said that it was alerted to the incident when the driver involved contacted it via its hotline last Saturday. “The user involved accidentally reversed the vehicle while the door was open... We are actively working with the user involved and providing the support needed to resolve this incident,” GetGo said, declining to reveal who the driver was. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it received a call for assistance at Block 259A Bangkit Road at about 12.20pm on Dec 16. One person was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, it added. In a video published on the Facebook page Tiagong on Dec 17, the damaged right front door of the Hyundai car could be seen twisted at an acute angle, after the driver seemingly tried to reverse-park next to a car-park ramp. Another photo of the incident showed that the car door had hit a low barrier with high visibility markings adjacent to the ramp. Parts of the barrier also appeared to be damaged. At the end of the video, a man wearing a face mask could be seen sitting on the ground next to the vehicle and appeared to be dazed. It was unclear from the footage if he was injured. A woman was filmed rendering assistance to the seated man.
  2. TL;DR - GetGo driver thinks he’s in Tokyo Drift and crashes into 3 cars. Learns there are consequences to his actions. Prayers for the original poster of this video for keeping his cool. I know I wouldn’t if I was in his position. Read on to see why. What happened? On 18th April in a Punggol multi-storey car park, a 23 year old GetGo driver was speeding at 50km/h and hit 3 cars that were parked together. We can see that a Kia Cerato, Mitsubishi Outlander and a van that looks like a Toyota Hiace were the victims, with the first two taking the brunt of the impact. The original poster of this incident was the owner of one of the cars. The Facebook post stated that the owner was happily spring cleaning his house with Hari Raya songs at full blast when he suddenly heard a loud bang and car alarms. He learnt that the GetGo driver was daydreaming as he was speeding, and made him call his father down as he seemed scared and was a “23 year old kid”. The original poster ended with a quote saying "No one got hurt. Heartbreak only. I held back my tears, the car is my baby." Bless this owner, I hope he can get his car fixed. We have no infomation on the identity of the GetGo driver, if he was intoxicated while driving, or if the original poster would be compensated for his repairs. Online chatter People brought to attention that the driver was 23 and an adult, not a kid and should be able to understand consequences of speeding in a carpark. Others noted how common it is to find such drivers behind the wheel of private hire vehicles. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. I can only imagine how it feels like to do a burnout. To have all that power sent straight to the wheels, to hear your tortured tires screaming, to smell the smoke before you go full send and are thrown back into your seat as the lights go green. This GetGo driver can join me and keep imagining too. What happened? On March 20, at Bedok North Avenue 3, a GetGo car was beginning to move forward after a green light when its handbrake engaged. However, the driver continued to move and was even in the process of turning left while his rear tyres were locked up. This is even more confusing when you realise that the sound the rear tyres made would be even louder for the driver, as the audio recorded was from a cam car. Not to mention the feedback from having 2 immobile wheels. And bro was still driving?? A kind police officer followed the GetGo car and pulled him over to help with his issue. Online chatter Most people were criticising the driver and his skill issue. To be fair, I think it’s warranted. This one even if he cannot hear anything, confirm still can feel right? Others had a laugh. Also warranted. I think when the driver realises what happened, he will start quoting Lewis Hamilton. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. A Getgo Mazda 3 was caught on camera speeding over the road speed limit of 60km/h and overtaking the camcar that was traveling under the speed limit at 55km/h. Watch the video for yourself below 293530692_956129985780000_1463920411778136038_n.mp4 The video begins with footage of cam car travelling along Yuan Ching Road. At around the 0.02 mark, a Getgo Mazda 3 appears out of nowhere, zooms past and overtakes the cam car at a speed that exceeds the regulated speed limit of 60km/h, breaking traffic laws. The Mazda 3 was speeding as if it was in a fast and furious movie. Maybe there's a lack of responsibility with a car that’s not owned by the driver? What's the penalty? For speeding, the getgo driver can be fined an amount of up to $150 to $300 for minor speeding-related offenses. However, if the speed limit is exceeded by 40km/h, repeat offenders can potentially be jailed to a duration of up to 10 years. Your licence will also be revoked in the process, and you may be permanently barred from driving. Demerit points are also awarded to the driver according to the speed limit that he/she exceeds. Just don’t speed lah! Netizen Comments Netizens have expressed their take on the situation, mocking and criticizing the Getgo driver, though some have concurring opinions that the camcar was hogging lanes. Personally, I believe that the Getgo driver should punished severely for exceeding the speed limit. It is precisely this kind of irresponsible behavior that leads to fatal and irreversible road accidents. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 5. A common car-sharing Getgo vehicle gets caught on camera blatantly ignoring the existence of the red traffic light. Strange since this seems like the fundamental essentials of driving theory. This resulted in the vehicle side sweeping an oncoming taxi and, hitting into it and resulted in debris inconveniently left on the road. It's extremely fortunate that this blatant disregard for traffic rules did not result in a more severe and damaging accident. It might be wise for Getgo to conduct further investigations into the perpetrator of this incident. Watch the video for yourself below 289067600_382536057067470_6736625153643993941_n.mp4 Netizen Comments Netizens seem enraged about the disregard for traffic laws, expressing their comments on the Facebook wall at SG Road Vigilante What are your thoughts on this incident? 6. Car sharing drivers have developed quite a bad reputation for their atrocious driving over the years. If you're wondering how bad they are right now, look no further. Here's a video that will make you facepalm yourself: What Happened? After failing to come to a complete stop at a stop-line, a GetGo Mazda 3 abruptly performed an e-brake to avoid t-boning a taxi. For some reason (most likely to give the Mazda 3 driver a death stare), the taxi stopped just in front of the Mazda 3. At this point, the Mazda 3 somehow gently rolls forward and collides with the side of the taxi. I am not sure about you, but this deserves a good facepalm moment. This incident serves as a prime example of the poor driving skills that the majority of car sharing drivers possess. Netizens' Comments MMMM..... 👁️👄👁️ Personally, I tend to avoid being around these cars. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 7. Over the years, car-sharing drivers have developed a bad reputation (especially the electric vehicle ones. Not going to mention names). Today we have a GetGo Mazda 3 though. Throw in a lady driver into the mix and here is what you will get: What Happened? This incident occurred at an open-air carpark located in Jurong West. The video above was filmed by a resident staying directly at the block above the carpark. The driver supposedly loses control of a GetGo Mazda 3, mounts the kerb and crashes into a row of metal railing. Subsequently, she attempted to dismount the kerb by reversing the vehicle. After what seemed like an eternity, she managed to get the vehicle out and parks it in a vacant parking lot. She then proceeded to alight from the vehicle and walked around it to inspect the damages on the Mazda 3. The Hilarious Part This segment of the video was what made me chuckle to myself. TBH, the camera guy's reaction is so similar to that of a peeping tom when he gets caught LMAO. @Camera guy You never do anything wrong. Why did you hide? Final Words If you can't drive, then don't drive. You are only putting yourself in danger, and other road users too. However, if you are so insistent on driving, at least do it with an experienced driver by your side. Netizens' Comments Well, it is possible to access car sharing vehicles without a license. Read it here. HAHAHAHA. Just gonna leave these comments here 👀 ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  8. Car-sharing is an undeniably innovative and affordable way for the public to access a car. In the wrong hands, car-sharing can be a double-edged sword, capable of posing a hazard to other road users. *Pretty sure we are all familiar with drivers of a small, white car on lane 1 of the expressway, driving with its high beam on and tailgating others👀* Watch this video to find out how car-sharing can be a deadly hazard to other road users when driven by irresponsible pricks: What Happened? This incident occurred along Bartley Viaduct, in the direction of Bartley Road East. The traffic on the stretch of road was absolutely clear, apart from a GetGo Car (Mazda 3) and motorcycle that passed the cam car. During which, the GetGo driver was driving in between two lanes. (Definitely a sign of a chiu cheng driver) For some reason, the GetGo driver failed to spot the motorcyclist that was LITERALLY right in front of him. As a result, the GetGo driver ended up swerving to his right to avoid rear-ending the motorcyclist. The high speed, coupled with the sudden swerve, caused the Mazda 3 to lose traction and skid. As much as I don't wish to make any assumptions, I can assure you the GetGo driver probably has minimal driving experience (Either that or he is drunk/on drugs). *Don't drop the "Even though I have not been driving ever since I got my license at 18, I have x years of driving experience" B.S on me* While attempting to regain control over the vehicle, the GetGo driver ended up sideswiping the motorcycle...REAL BAD. The collision caused the motorcyclist to fall and repeatedly roll on the road. It seems like the motorcyclist may have sustained significant injuries. The GetGo driver scoots off immediately without hesitating after colliding with the motorcyclist. Not Caught On Camera According to the cam car, he chased the GetGo car after witnessing the hit and run. Apparently, during his escape, the GetGo car also collided with two other vehicles in the vicinity of Maris Stella High School. A pity all these were not caught on a dashcam. It would certainly serve as solid evidence to put this chiu cheng driver away for good. Here's to wishing the motorcyclist a speedy recovery. And I hope the dashcam video finds you well to assist you in your claims accordingly. Netizens' Comments 🤨🤨🤨 Heng ah. Kudos to the cam car driver, you the real MVP. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! Simply WhatsApp us ➡️https://bit.ly/3c6JERA
