Kt2u 1st Gear March 4, 2011 Share March 4, 2011 Same chasis, the new model comes in 1.6L turbo charged engine with more horses than the previous 2.0L, which probably is what you saw...
Expertz 1st Gear March 4, 2011 Share March 4, 2011 collected the K5 yesterday, saw another metal bronze K5 waiting to be collected. R u from this forum? Can't find any K5 owner from the kia forum too... The ave fc for the past 40+ km is abt 10km/l, much better than my previous ride Will try out the econ mode on the next tank fill. with or without aircon? 10km during run in is superly good, after run in should be able to hit 13 or 14km! St220 Neutral Newbie March 4, 2011 Share March 4, 2011 What was your previous ride and its engine variant? Forester XT (current model) 2.5L. FC ave 6.5~7 km/l
St220 Neutral Newbie March 4, 2011 Share March 4, 2011 with or without aircon? 10km during run in is superly good, after run in should be able to hit 13 or 14km! with aircon full time . Did a long cruse on the highway today, current mileage abt 150km, ave fc improves to 9.2l/100km or 10.8km/l My expectation is 9.5km/l for a full tank, anything more is bonus. I agree ... for most 2 litres - 9 to 10 km/h is about the average for local driving condition. Anything above that would be a bonus.
St220 Neutral Newbie March 4, 2011 Share March 4, 2011 Forester XT (current model) 2.5L. FC ave 6.5~7 km/l My first 7 rides were contis, 3 TC & 4NA. Forester was my 1st MIJ ride as I'm keen to find out the experience of owning a MIJ. I would say the K5 is a pretty decent ride, really nice to cruse along highway, no floating feeling, firm suspension, a little heavy steering with good feedback, reminds me of my previous mondeo. Of course K5 tranny is far better than the ford retard 4 speeds auto, really sucks. Engine refinement lose out to subaru, but on par with some of my previous contis I owned. Once pushed above 3500rpms, the engine roar gets abit rough, that is the main weakness for K5, else it is superb! Interior & build quality I would say is decent, better than some of the MIJ, especially subaru. I enjoy witnessing the shock expression from my colleagues, as they can't believe KIA make such nice & pretty car. MIK ride??!!! why not, I'm enjoying every single bit as much as previous contis. I own a 1.8L Carens from 2004-08, my average FC is only 7-8km/l. Who dare to say Korean car had poor FC with all their latest release model, with all the modern engine and gear box. Expertz 1st Gear March 4, 2011 Share March 4, 2011 (edited) i'm just hoping that sgporeans still have this MIK = lousy mentality 2 or 3 years from now then after 2 years i'll dump my 'superior' MIJ car and buy this k5 for cheap... haha i've been dying to get a k5 but after calculation i'll need such a big loan that my mthly installment will be coming to 1k sad...
