Neutrino Supercharged October 10, 2018 Share October 10, 2018 There must be reason he jump ship, any comments about crestar.? Thought of buying one. We bought four from Crestar maybe 7 years ago. Have had to replace the receiver/remote on three of them and another one now only works at the fastest speed. The receiver/remote costs S$ 150 to change inclusive of transport. New fan only costs around S$ 200. Maybe transport for this is extra, dunno. Dunno how that compares with other fans. We do like the look of the Crestar fans though.

I didnt check but I would expect Taiwan to produce decent quality products. Any Korean brand ceiling fan ?
Ct3833 Supersonic November 25, 2018 Share November 25, 2018 So i read about advantages of a DC fan vs a AC fan. Other than more speed option ,power saving etc , could someone who have switched from a AC fan to DC fan provide your real life experience ? Is it really quieter, do you feel the difference in your daily usage in anyway etc. good and bad. Suggestion. Have been thinking to replace a couple of my fans but have not made up my mind. Thanks. Kb27 Supersonic November 25, 2018 Share November 25, 2018 Those with KDK Ac fans making the "wong wong" noises or slow speed, may want to note that it's due to the motor capacitor on the PCB. Neither the motor nor bearing at fault. Especially those expensive models like V60WK,V56VK, R56SV. Change that $5 capacitor and the fan will be good as new. When your AC fan got problem turning, moving, or starting to move, it's almost always the AC capacitor fault. After a few years of working, it will break down. I learned this the hard way, when I throw away a good tower fan, just bcuz of the capacitor, which I didn't know at that time. Recently I've swapped out 3 capacitors on my ceiling fan. They all died, in fact it only works in reverse. However, if you have the new DC fan, this should not happen, bcuz it works by electronic switching of magnetism, and does not depend on a starting/running capacitor. ..Not unless the electronics has a malfunction.
