Hi newbie26,

Tks .. SE was saying std also "white" lights except the side drl is yellow halogen.

Unfortunately test drive car was out and I had to rush off for dinner appt .. will revisit them to double check.

All the mentioned differences are standard affairs for stock imprezza 2.0l with added moon roof etc. and there is 5D hatch version at 1k more that looks nice.

However, the joke is that eyesight safety does not allow MI to install solar film on front windscreen which is unthinkable nowadays in nice hot singapore .. any mod will on the other hand put owners in risk to void claims with insurance companies. Not sure how MI will continue to sell since all subaru cars including coming best seller forester in few months time.

Tks again !

Richard

Hi All,

Nice bro who helped with the following very useful advice since also w.r.t. to imprezza 2.0L being considered but believe wishes to keep low profile which I really appreciated and perhaps other potential buyers of M6 can refer to.

Cheers,

Richard

Hi,

I am not a sales man. Just someone who were also interested in both Mazda and Subaru like you.

I guess you're considering Impreza and Mazda 6 because of similarity in price. For me, it was the Mazda 6 and XV.

I booked the Mazda 6 standard eventually after a few days of thinking. Please check and confirm, but i know Subaru Impreza and XV has much lower OMV comparing to Mazda 6 despite having more specs. I think Impreza 2.0 and XV OMV is only $13-14k respectively. Mazda 6 standard OMV is about $17-19k (my SE told me 17k but someone who bought it said it his is 19k). Mazda 6 Executive OMV is $21-23k.

Anyway, the Subaru is cheaper that's for sure. List price $94k, but i think they can give you for $90k if you are serious and negotiate for it. XV is $95k, and they offered me $91k. But i didnt go for it. I got my Mazda 6 standard for $99k after some overtrade. Let me know if you want my SE's number. According to SE, they increased the price because they sold out 3 shipments. Waiting time is till Sept/Oct now. So, response was very good, and they will want to push their profit margin up. But try to negotiate to get more from your trade in car, the SE can help.

The reason i chose standard is because i dont need all the extras Executive comes with. I am seldom in the country and hardly drives. So, for me just a comfortable car without the bells and whistles is enough. I'd rather keep $8k in my pocket. Also i chose Mazda instead of Subaru because i dont like CVT gearbox which almost all Subaru comes with in order to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emission (also nowadays the new Corolla and Civic comes with CVT too, not to mention Nissan) Mazda seems to be the only Japanese manufacturer to stick with conventional 6 speed auto gearbox. Next up will be Lexus with 8 speed gearbox.

I have studied for a while, these are spec difference between Executive and Standard for Mazda 6,

Executive have all these but standard do not have

LED DRL (but headlights both are LED, but Standard DRL is yellow bulb. Confirmed, i have seen this)

LED rear lights (standard rear lights is bulb)

Keyless door unlock (you need to press the keyfob to unlock the doors)

Auto walk away door lock

A, B, C pillar door frame piano black (Standard is matt black)

Heads Up Display (HUD)

Dashboard display (only the right hand side - is a small multidot LED display... standard is using old 2017 model dashboard)

Bose 11 speaker sound system (standard only 6 speakers)

... and all the modern safety features

Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

Adaptive Frontlights System (AFS)

Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)

Auto Pedestrian Brake

Smart City Brake Support

Anyway, good luck to your car hunting.

My response to this nice bro who drives a few contis like BMW and Merc albeit not sure which model:

Thanks a million ... no, 2 millions !!!

Indeed it would have been a clearer choice if I had known of the m6 few weeks earlier at 3k lower and 2-3 weeks registration instead of months into Nov/Oct .. choice is now still m6 and this is wife's car to/fro work as a lecturer while I drives the forester fxt suv.

On the impreza 2.0l, the key issue is preferred eyesight with much more safety gadgetries that are good for wife than m6 executive version now at 8k more BUT no solar film sanctioned by MI and Subaru Japan. It has aided emergency braking, AWD and even moon roof. My wife finds that the impreza does drives/handles betta and it has superior visibility as well as arguably nice looking in 5 doors hatchback ... more suited for wife and 2nd car than the executive m6 albiet more bumpy and vocal from boxer engine. The reported sluggishness of imprezza even with cvt is same in the 2.0l m6 and 2.5l version of m6 dun make sense at about 30k more.

On the m6, sedan is less preferred for wife but ok aesthetically while the interior is very nice ! Really different class compared to originally planned 1.6 to 2.0l in the likes of civic, impreza ... only V40 T5 betta it in a typical conti no nonsense way and not even the Audi A3. It does make you feel like driving a 2.0l car a bit more while paying 2.0l road tax and fuel consumption. It was the V40 T5 at 120k if not for the very small rear window that wife did not feel safe driving ... it was her preferred ride which is not unexpected with big power and driveability.

Thanks again and will share your good advice with wife.

With appreciation and best regards.

Richard

Heard that Apple Car Play will be made available as an upgrade for all older Mazda models using Mazda Connect in other countries. Good for those buying the next batch of new Mazda 6 with Apple Car Play in it.

Any idea if this is so in Singapore as well? Wonder how much it would cost... ...would like to upgrade in my 2017 Mazda 6.

Bro... Hyundai Elantra also use yellow halogen bulb for daytime running lights... VW for the Golf also I think for the lower trim... I see that on quite a few VWs... my sister's Sportsvan also like that... quite ugly but still functional lar...

I know it is kind of premature but for those who just got the new Mazda 6 with 1 year free servicing, where would you consider getting the car serviced?

Just went for my first service at leng kee this week. The place is packed full of cars waiting for service. Think they are overloaded.

BTW they don't change the oil at 1000km and 5000km. Apparently the engine comes with synthetic oil from factory.

Went for the night service. Relatively easy to get a slot. Went in at 645 and collected car at 9pm. Zzzzzz. Night service is good for those who dun want to take leave or run around in the day. Coffee tea n some desserts on the house!

Can keep us updated? Am keen for Apple car play.
