MAZDA 6

Toyota or any conventional MPI engine would be more lasting although not fuel efficiency by today's standard.

And Hybrid or EV cars has to bother with battery changes every 4-5years.

Right now, a bit concerned about mazda GDI engine.

How long will it last before a drop in efficiency due to carbon build-up at intake valve?

Spoken to SA at TEK, they don't provide preventive maintenance.

Suggested long drive (overtaking speed) at Malaysia NS highway to "blow" out the carbon.

Before drive, add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in petrol tank.

Problem is I don't drive to Malaysia often. Didn't for past 5years already.

YouTube has some solution to rid the carbon build-up but petty complicate to me (not normal maintenance).

Just sharing.

Skyactiv engines inject fuel directly into the engine, bypassing the intake valves altogether. Fuel cleaner will not work well...

Also, the valves have been designed to run hot enough to burn off the deposits. U can read the write-up here: https://motoiq.com/131-compression-and-40-mpg-on-87-octane-fuel-introducing-mazdas-skyactiv-technology/6/

Not to discourage preventative maintenance, but this is almost like engine oil flushing. If it ain't giving any problems, don't worry too much. Just rev it once a while and enjoy the ride!

Hope we get the Car Play/Android Auto upgrade locally. But I suspect itâd come at a cost.

https://www.autoblog.com/2018/07/31/2018-mazda-6-gains-apple-carplay-android-auto-in-september/

Even in US some models will need to pay for the upgrade.

Anyone asked TEK on this recently?

My SA said no news from their management. So he thinks the new shipment will not install the car play.

The Auto-Lock settings for the Mazda 6 is user selectable. Usually the factory default setting is:

All the doors lock automatically when the vehicle speed is about 20 km/h (12 mph) or more.

All the doors unlock when the ignition is switched from ON to Off. Don't know if the agent

changed this.

There are various other settings available. Check with the Mazda service agent. Or read the

user manual.

One caution is that if the car doors remain locked when the car is stationary, then in an

emergency, i.e. crashed car, rescuers cannot open the door from the outside when you

are unconscious inside.

I confirm this. Tested drive Mazda 6 2018, the door was auto locked when car moved with some speed.

I am 5-year-old Mazda owner. My booking is non-guaranteed bid, so hopefully COE will not go north.

The interior is very much different between Mazda 3 and Mazda 6.

Impossible to compare 3 to 6. The interior finishing is too far apart and not to mention the safety features. You are comparing peanut to almonds.

Space, rear air con, finishing, etc.

Already feel the difference when you step into the car.

Standard trim does not have safety feature, except 6 air bags.

Then the interior fittings and drive feel should still beat mazda 3 hands down. 3 and 6 is a total different tiers. 6 is fighting the level with camry and passat. 3 i believe is lower.

I went to the showroom to take a look at the Mazda 3 but was sold on the Mazda 6. The difference between both cars fit and finish is just too far apart.  With so many soft touch points throughout the cabin, it just oozes quality and sophistication.

I had shortlisted the Stinger but the price point is a bit too much for me to take as it's a premium sports car. But the M6 price point, comfort and smoothness is something that I'm looking more into. Another car into my shortlist.
