among the japanese competitors of mazda 6 at similar price range (eg camry, accord, legacy, teana, exclude lexus and infiniti), the mazda 6 is the cheapest and best looking

 

however from some angles, the mazda 6 look similar to the mazda 3

no wonder now on the road see many mazda sedans - price and design explains the popularity

My experience is the 2.0 engine gives the impression it is noisier due to it working harder.

 

Recently had a chance to ride in a 2.0L 2017 version. Compared to my 2.5L, the 2.0 engine revs much louder on pick up and trying to over take. The 2.5L engine is more refined and quiet probably because it doesn't need to work as hard. Usually mine don't go over 2k rpm if I drive and accelerate normally.

Sound insulation and engine refinement are not Mazda's strength. It is evident even at their Mazda 6 model. Even the Altis is quieter than Mazda 6. But i admit the build quality, design and feature at this price is value for money. The Mazda 6 standard is cheaper than the Altis standard.

I bought mazda because of the drive plus nice design.

Good steering feel (nor light or heavy) provide accurate road feedback, suspension (nor too hard or soft) to achieve minimum body roll when cornering.

My previous ride also mz6. Probably got use to the noise.

Sound insulation and engine refinement are not Mazda's strength. It is evident even at their Mazda 6 model. Even the Altis is quieter than Mazda 6. But i admit the build quality, design and feature at this price is value for money. The Mazda 6 standard is cheaper than the Altis standard.

These are compromises for different make. Use of better insulation will add cost and weight which will in turn impact price, fuel efficiency and in our case, VES status. Factors of which will affect its perceived strength today.

really? swap mazda with toyota engine

i would buy mazda for its engine and handling

 

Skyactiv + G-vectroring + 6spd auto

the only lacking is FC is not as good as Toyota ... everything else should be good

Toyota or any conventional MPI engine would be more lasting although not fuel efficiency by today's standard.

And Hybrid or EV cars has to bother with battery changes every 4-5years.

 

 

Right now, a bit concerned about mazda GDI engine.

How long will it last before a drop in efficiency due to carbon build-up at intake valve?

Spoken to SA at TEK, they don't provide preventive maintenance.

Suggested long drive (overtaking speed) at Malaysia NS highway to "blow" out the carbon.

Before drive, add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in petrol tank.

Problem is I don't drive to Malaysia often. Didn't for past 5years already.

YouTube has some solution to rid the carbon build-up but petty complicate to me (not normal maintenance).

To add, based on how gdi engine works.

The long distance driving at high rev method would only delay the carbon build-up rate compare with low rev short distance drive.

Their sales are dipping in Japan, they cannot afford to wrestle 1:1 with toyota or Honda. But the handling is good. For a size of the 6 the feedback of the wheel is definitely comparable to the smaller BMW 3 series, the 5 series feels numb, worse than the E class. There might be fine details but no one can rationally prove who's better. So yes, Mazda is probably the most affordable driver's car alongside Subaru or Suzuki

I keep reading noise insulation for Mazda 6, I actually purchased this car (Mazda 6 2.0 Executive 2018) without testing. I'm curious how bad is it. I'm now driving Honda Accord 2008. I wonder which is worst?

Actually imo, noise is really subjective to individual. Some will think it's noisy but ok to some. Difficult to compare for old and new car. If you think it's noisy then you can do sound proofing, but FC will be affected.

cant compare 5series and e class with mazda , honda , subaru or toyota lah

these are luxury sedan, even if they handle or perform worse, their badges command the premium

Hope we get the Car Play/Android Auto upgrade locally. But I suspect it’d come at a cost.

Haha, sorry difficult to describe the nosie level.

As some mentioned, noise is subjective to individual.

I focus on the drive, safety and radio.

But have to tune radio volume higher during heavy rain days.

There is this Audio pilot in the infotainment. Volume will auto adjust higher according to car speed.

However don't seems to work in current model. Bought up the issue to SA but cant feel the different.

My previous 2008 model works, it called ALC.
