How problematic is VW's 7 speed DSG?

Yep, although it comes with a slightly more powerful engine (150 bhp vs 122 bhp), selectable driving modes ,

 

different rims, skirtings .

So far I have not considered VW but I read with amuse about all these problematic issues.

 

VW are like toyota in Germany and consider their land against our tiny dot, I cannot imagine their cars fail so easily. Then in Germany, it can only drive around a small town? No logic leh.

You can buy lah.i will only buy if it's manual transmission.

Was stuck in 4-hour causeway jam this weekend and just avoided the entire gearboxes issue by manual gear select. Stayed in 1st gear all the time, no problem. As many have said on the forum, manual mode solves the problems with dual clutch overheating in constant stop and go. Yes, as someone said: you don't have 4-hour creeping stop-n-go at 30 degrees plus in Germany so often. And actually I rarely encounter it in Singapore, only at causeway.
