The City Harvest Church congregation has single-handedly revived the local music industry.

In an interview before he was sentenced to six years’ jail, fund manager Chew Eng Han told The Straits Times last November:

“We expected to make money from (Sun Ho’s albums), and Sun was meant to get souls saved; this was the best thing the church would ever do. But, as it turns out, the album was a sham. The Crossover was a sham. The bond was a good bond — what went on behind the scene made it look like a sham.”

Come to think of it, Ho did not need to go to the States, spend millions on marketing and Wyclef Jean to make money for the City Harvest Church (CHC).

Because the latest CHC album, Draw Me, is sold out.

 

More importantly, the album is number one on the Apple iTunes chart, beating local act Gentle Bones (2nd), Adele (6th), the late Christina Grimmie (7th, 10th and 14th), Coldplay (17th) and One Direction (18th).

The involvement of Sun Ho and Kong Hee

Ho shared on her Facebook page that she recorded four tracks for the 13-track album, adding that she could “set aside the cares and burdens” that she faces daily when she was in the recording studio.

According to City News, CHC’s newsletter, the album title was taken from a worship song written by CHC’s senior pastor Kong Hee in the early days of the church.

“Never had the time” to produce the album last year…

The album’s creative director Mark Kwan also told City News that the album “proudly” features all original songs.

Alluding to the City Harvest trial last year, Kwan said that they “never had the time to take on the entire process of producing an album” because “of all that the church has been going through”.

If it was Selina wee and she is appearing in person signing off the singles/ album, I may join the queue- even if the queue is from Ang mo Kio to suntec and I am more than an atheist (and highly familiar with Darwin, Dawkins, Sagan, Richard Feynman, hitchens,). Of course even she couldn't shake the fact that there is no grand creator
