Scoot

I am not trying to pick a fight but i do not think 6 months in advance is that early to plan for a family holiday. Budget airline must buy tickets during its sales period then can enjoy the savings. If you book with Jetstar during non-promotion periods, their ticket prices are actually only just slightly cheaper than ful-service ones. So in a way this approach is not suitable for you if you are the type that last minute go airport mani-mini-mo randomly select a destination and go type of people.

And my example is with Jetstar, not Scoot lah. Real example, not pluck from thin air example.

Lol... Are you always so serious?

I booked a flight yesterday to Taipei.

Departing on Jan 11, 2019 and returning on Jan 14, 2019.

Scoots including 20kg luggage is around 400+.

SQ and EVA is at least 700+.

I think budget airlines has really revolutionised air travel and made it much more accessible for the masses. This is a fact we cannot ignore.

My first budget trip was more than 20 years ago when I was studying in London.

It was winter and a group of us took a holiday to Dublin. We flew Ryanair from London Stansted to Dublin. The flight was £21 return!

Prior to that I did “stand by” flights hanging around the airport to get the cheapest flight at the 11th hour by going directly to the offices of the airlines in airport and bargaining down the prices- was a Heathrow to JFK flight ; spent 2 days in the Airport .... was 36 years back though

Buy travel insurance.

When Scoot was first launched years ago, my family took the flight to Sydney. It was ok and cheap, $600 per pax return.

Since then we have taken Scoot a few times to nearer destinations (e.g. HK, BKK), but often we get hit with delays, though nothing as bad as the recently reported ones.

Overall, you get what you pay for. Scoot is a low-cost airline, so in all areas they need to cut cost. This means that when their flight is delayed, you'll not get much service recovery, and also they don't have additional planes to spare to be deployed etc.

Buying sia tickets to Finland and scoots back and buying heavy insurance nao!!!!!

Cross my fingers woohoo!!!!!

12-hour flight to Europe without food, entertainment, baggage, assigned seating, etc?.....budget airline consperm suit u

budget airline. my limit is 4.5hrs.

I've taken scoot to Taiwan and perth. But mainly because of the friendly timings for myself (I like to fly during the daytime as opposed to most other people who prefer early or late flights).

But anything beyond that is strictly full service.

hi bro, no sarcasm at all

i checked out scoot and jetsar all the time

i cannot find any deal with substantial savings

especially after adding meal + luggage + select seats

i truly feel your deal is impressive

i will look harder next time while exploring scoot and jetsar

I managed to pay $770 for 2pax Melb to SG return on Scoot as well.. it was booked about 8 mths in advanced. So definitely possible..

But only with checked in luggage, not into budget meals or seat selection..

I think we need more budget airlines to increase competition so prices can go even lower.

People think jet fuel is very sophisticated and hence expensive.

But it's really just cheap kerosene they are burning.

Actually airfare is relatively cheap, it's all the airport tax and surcharge and whatsoever that cost 1/2 the price of the ticket itself.

Yeah it's the runway that cost money.

Next time we will be flying in pilot less drones that can land vertically.

No need runways.

Price should come down then.

Now oil prices low, Sgp dollar very strong.

It should be easier to get cheap air tickets now.

Oil price has been locked months ahead.

Low oil price might not translate into low air fare.

air-ticket prices are based on demand.

if book early (most restricted T&C), definitely prices will be cheap. provided these Airlines had stored their prices in their "Reservation system"

For those Airlines from China (eg Air China, China Southern), they only open up cheap category ticket 1-4months from now

SQ the best, their flights reservations and prices are open 355 days ahead of departure.

if you book months ahead, its way cheaper. However, for jetstar, seems the airline system most of the time koyak. So have to add in insurance for flight delay.  And if you do the connecting flight in Bali, be prepared to do 200 meter dash...

SQ is like that one.

Low oil price they say already locked at higher prices,  High oil price always forgot to lock.  Thus air tickets always high! and yet company not very profitable!  Please sack the guy in charge of hedging, at lease save salary expenses.

I have given up on SQ, take it only when I have no other cheaper choices.  And sold off SQ shares years ago when it as something like 12 dollars.

Actually SQ fares are quite stable. Might not be cheap but doesn't spike as much as budget airlines. So unless book very early and non-peak (especially for long weekend or public holiday travel) and by the time u add meals, baggage, etc, savings from budget airlines is not much. Sometimes it cost even more...

For budget airline, forget about the food. It taste really bad.

I usually eat cup noodle.

If Budget airline provides hot water like China HSR, I will bring my own cup noodle.
